Rice cooker
from Boulder, CO,  Dec 28, 2011

I'm amazed at how quickly this cooks rice! Only complaint is that there is always some rice sticking to the bottom, even if I spray the bottom with Pam before adding the rice and liquid. I've tried adding a little more liquid - still sticks. The quality of the rice is good, so I'll put up with a little sticking.

Very pleased!
 from NJ,  Feb 8, 2011

I wanted to replace an Aroma rice cooker with an aluminum non-stick insert. After much research for a replacement with a S/S insert, I came across this product. Immediately, I was attracted to the gimmicky features but deterred by the price on other websites. I looked on Overstock and assumed perhaps they would have the lower model without the extra features. Not only did they have the top model but it was $20 less than the lowest price I saw elsewhere and shipping was $1. I’m Puerto Rican and rice and beans are a big part of my diet. Some reviewers were a bit concerned with the sticking, crusty rice and cleanup. Most Latinos refer to the crusty rice as “pegao”. Sometimes, we scrape the pegao and mix it with the fluffy, perfectly cooked grains. My other rice cooker only produced a browned, mushy crust – not worthy of mixing. For healthier cooking, I use brown rice (long, medium or short) to make my rice dishes such as arroz con gandules or arroz amarillo. Granted, it will be hard to part with your mom’s aluminum caldero (rice pot) but you’ll be healthier. Insofar as cleanup, I have S/S pots and pans and am familiar how to clean stubborn stuck-on food. A little soaking works well but I recommend using powdered stainless steel cleaner (not Ajax or Comet) to really make it shine like new.
