Armada 9-drawer Dresser

I had been searching for a month for a dresser that didnt look cheap, but I wasnt willing to pay the price for an expensive dresser. I found this one and based on the reviews went for it. The previous reviews were 100% correct in my opinion. The dresser does end up looking expensive and you would never know it was assembled at home.. It is truly enormous though. It weighs 300lbs (comes in 4 boxes). As far as the assembly, all the reviewers warned it was tricky so we really took our time and were very carfeul and we got it done in just under 5 hours. However I do recommend setting aside a whole day to assemble because it was very tricky, had a ton of pieces and we had to do alot of guessing and got lucky. All in all I am amazed how great it looks for the price and, if you have a lot of space and a power drill, I would highly reccomend it!!

Beautiful dresser, however very difficult to assemble. Actually had to omit using about 10 screws in the frame because the pre-drilled holes did not line up. Took 2 nights to put it together, about 4 hours each night. Must have 2 people to assemble, very heavy. But now that it's put together, we love it.

Shipping issues with Overstock and UPS: It took a week to receive the 70 lbs + heavy boxes by UPS. One box was missing and showed on the tracking system to be on the truck for delivery everyday for about a week even though I kept stating the obvious, it’s not on the truck! Overstock spent another week tracking down the error and sending me the missing box. The box arrived and when I opened it I found the front face frame was broken. I think the manufacturer did not pack the piece well enough for the weight and the span of the front frame. (This is the full front section that the drawers slide into) The construction is poor considering the price. Hardware is weak metal and easy it easy to strip the cam locks if you are not very careful. The hex tool is not included, which surprised me. The drawers and all large pieces are constructed with these fasteners and wooden dowels. The large drawers will not hold up to this type of fasteners over years of use. The drawer hinges are cheap and instructions do not mention clearly how to install. I am trained in wood furniture construction and have all the tools to complete a project like this in about 5 1/2 hours. I used power screw drivers (clutched to lowest settings), hex screw drivers (all by hand), rubber mallet, glue and clamps (repairs). In my opinion, the project would take a couple days for most weekend warriors and there are many opportunities to ruin the project if care is not taken on these steps. This 9-drawer piece of furniture takes a lot of time to construct and if you have a choice, buy yours already built locally. I considered sending it back once I opened the damaged piece, but there's your problem. Now you have to figure out how to re-package the jig-saw pieces of each of four boxes. It would take a genius to get everything packed back up and then deal with sending back. I decided to make the repairs and build the project. Finished result is nice. It's a big piece with plenty of storage. Nine drawers, you would think my wife would share at least one! At least I have my 60" on top, so complaints there! I have constructed hundreds of pre-built furniture kits. This one rates about a 2-3 out of 10 for poor packaging, poor instructions (needed larger illustrations with better diagrams), poor hardware quality, poor construction design, and poor wood quality (soft wood does not hold up to this type of fastening hardware system). In comparison, my IKEA projects are always easy to build and the craftsmanship is there, always. I expected more for the price on this piece of furniture. I also have two matching night stands to build. Lucky me! The finish project is beautiful, getting there was a real nightmare. Buyer be warned.

We recently remodeled a beach condo and bought all new furniture. Being a bargain hunter, who also likes good quality, I was drawn to this set by the appearance and great reviews. I was NOT disappointed! I purchased the chest and two nightstands as I didn't think we had room for the dresser. Once the remodel was completed, I realized that the 9-drawer dresser would fit and returned the chest and got the dresser. My son put all together and seemed to have a pretty easy time, though he is pretty handy, and does have an electric drill which served as the screwdriver. It didn't take him as long as others have reported....an hour for each of the nightstands and two hours for the dresser. I helped by screwing on the knobs! The finished products are BEAUTIFUL and really fit the room well. The room is not that large, but I love the size of the nightstands, as we really needed to maximize storage. You can't lose on this one...GREAT furniture at a GREAT price!
