A tip of my hat to those who took only a couple hours to put this together; it took me six or seven hours over three straight days to assemble. I'd purchased one of the last units before it shortly went out of stock, so I couldn't help but wonder if I received a "several imperfections" one. The assembled unit is indeed a stunning piece - that is, if one isn't aware that the backing is poking out because the drawer cabinet wouldn't align, and if one doesn't realize a decorative box has been placed where the top drawer should be because the top drawer wouldn't fit. At one point, the assembly was so frustrating I was sorely tempted to just set the piece out on the street -- I couldn't get the top to "settle in", couldn't get the back and front rails to properly align, etc., and it was too far gone through the assembly to break it all down to ship back. Glad I stuck with it, though - it's turned out to beautifully showcase a flat-screen and components, and is sturdy enough to store a ton of my old VHS's and other stuff. The biggest issue is that it was just an utter nightmare to put together -- *everything* has to be assembled -for instance, *each* drawer has six pieces that have to be assembled-- however, I've found the finished product to be worth it.
