I was so pleasantly surprised with this rug. The quality really far exceeded my expectations. I paid 200 less than what it appears to be going for these days on Overstock, so maybe I got lucky. This rug is so soft, it feels like the whole thing is made of silk - but there are only certain 'swirls' that are slik. The site did not mention silk or that this is an Abbyson rug. The sheep's wool used in this seems uniquely fine and soft, it does not feel like most wool rugs. I don't see much shedding so far. Just be aware that there are grey/silver swirls among the gold and beige ones on my rug, which don't show up as such in the images on the site. It didn't impact me at all, but others may be surprised. I love the rug!

I received this area rug within days after I ordered it. I'm an interior designer by trade and have used a lot of area rugs. This one has to be one of the more "eye-catching" rugs I have seen in a very long time! Very dimensional, and the price is unbelievable for the quality of this rug. One thing to note, if your sweeper has a rotating brush you may want to turn it off while sweeping as itís not good for the rug......on a closing note horizon rug is the best company. I have bought many rugs from os that luckily have their name on it. I hope horizon can put their name on the web so people can identify easily.

I just received this runner and couldn't be happier. The colors, style, and texture all meet the description. It's great in my entrance and looks as if it will hold up to a lot of traffic. An unexpected surprise is how soft it feels on barefeet.

I've come to trust this manufacturer, and this rug lives up to my high expectations. The colors are warm, the pattern is a little less intricate than I would expect from an "oriental rug" but that makes the area a little more cozy and inviting in my opinion. It is not rolled around a spool so I am hoping that it lies flat. a pad will make it more plush. The value is just plain wonderful. if you can get past "not wool, not silk, not handmade" you will really enjoy it!

I just received itt by Fedex and it wasn't the rug that is shown in the picture. The one Overstock shipped me is a very old, stained and dirty rug with a white/grey strike. The material is not wool/silk either. Yes, Overstock sent me something completely different. So, I called the customer service and have been told that the rug that is shown in the picture is out of stock. Out of Stock? Ahh..... I see. But.... why wasn't I informed of this before I purchased? And why did you people at Overstock send me a completely different rug that is old and worn out? What a great service!!!

I love this rug! The pile is very lush and densely woven...great quality for the money. On the other hand, I expected the area around the center medallion to be a darker color...almost rust like the photo. The written description is accurate; it's tan...almost mocha. I'm keeping it regardless, because it's neutral and blends with our office decor. Out of curiosity, I ran my Dyson over it to check for shedding. The rug did shed a little, but from what I understand, that's normal for new handmade wool rugs. Time will tell whether shedding continues to be a problem.

I love the rug, but it sheds, and sheds and sheds!!! I bought it in April but started using it in July when we moved to our new house. I have to vaccum the rug at least every 3 days and the whole downstairs of our house every 5 because the shedding gets everywhere. It has about 6 months of use and constant vaccuming, and it still have not started to diminish the shedding. it is even in an area where there is not a lot of traffic, and it still sheds. If we spend time in that area, even after just vaccuming, it will need to be vaccumed right away. I have waited for the shedding to diminish, but i have not seen signs of it. It is a shame, because it is a beautiful rug, but I feel that it makes me work a lot more than I should!!!

As another reviewer indicated, this rug sheds when it arrives initially. I think this is mostly due to fibers accumulated during manufacture (rather than the actual tuft releasing). Other than that, for the price, its a very nice rug. In our home we have several genuine silk/wool persian rugs, with a few 80+ year old masterpieces. This rug's job is to sit in our home office where chairs with casters roll on it all day- and we don't worry about tearing up a $10k rug in the process. This is just a nice practical rug. As for the shedding... I brought in our Roomba, and set it loose in the room with the door closed for about 2 hours so it couldn't get away. After about 4-5 passes I think the rug is nice and clean with no loose fibers. Also, unlike most polymer rugs, you won't have to worry about a nasty chemical smell with this one which was good.

I got this area rug to use in my den which is a high traffic area. When I got the rug, I was a little disappointed because eventhough it looked like the picture, the quality of the rug was not what I expected. The descripition reported that it was a silk and wool rug....I still haven't seen the silk. We decided to keep it and give it a shot mainy b/c my husband didn't want the hassle of sending it back. We have bought other rugs from overstock and this is the first time the quality was so poor. The rug has shed like crazy. I've filled up 3 cannisters on my dyson. Plus, little threads are coming out the the rug. I have oriental rugs all over my house and I have never had this happen before. I've only had it less than 2 weeks. I don't think I 'll be buying anymore rugs from overstock again.

This rug is absolutely beautiful. It is soft and has no shedding. The red stands out, but it would fit with many color schemes. Because of the shedding problems, I chose the silk and wool. I only wish the site would say how much silk is in the rug. It is soft and laid down with no problems. The perfect rug for my den area. I had just returned two all wool shedders, which would not lay right and were so stiff to the touch. This design is superior as well as the workmanship. Just delighted.

I had seen this runner at another store for a higher price so I was excited to find it at overstock for less. My kitchen is accented in a mix of green colors and the mix of greens in this rug help pull it all together. The runner also effectively covers a large amount of kitchen tile that I donít like. The background looks cream in the pictures but it is more of a soft taupe. This color difference does not bother me, but I was surprised by it when I first received. This runner is thick and I do not have a rug pad under it because I donít feel like I need one. Feels good on bare feet, not super soft like chenille or silk, but the comfort of wool. The rug does shed at first but after about four vacuums doesnít seem to shed anymore. Giving four stars because while I have had no issues, I do think the rug could be made a little better, only time will tell if itís good enough. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would recommend.

As other reviewers noted, this is a lovely cream colored wool rug with raised silk "burst" detailing in shades of gold, chocolate brown, and cream. It's an incredible value for the money. It's the perfect neutral colored rug with just enough drama to make it interesting. Since I placed it in my little used guest bedroom, I haven't encountered the pilling that other reviewers noted, but that generally come with the territory of a wool rug. The silk material of the burst really make the rug gleam in sunshine or under light, and actually brings a shot of brightness into the room. Highly recommend.

The rug I received was true to size within 1/2" which is really good for a wool rug. The size is indeed 3'6" X5'6" and my measurement is 5/8" thick (I don't remember what they had listed), and it feels like a thick wool rug. The edges are bound in the same color as the backgound field and has the normal rug backing- which I'll call canvass. The pile is cut not looped and feels soft. The soft I mention is wool soft not silk soft but worth mentioning because some wool rugs are stiff and hard like an outdoor entrance rug. I have mine in the entry upon dull metalic tile with dark grout the door is honey oak, walls warm white, bench dark asian style with warm white "fur" and an Ikea shiny curtain with large pattern circles hangs from the ceiling seperating the entrance from the rest of the house. Natural defused light during the day with harsh direct light when the door is open as well as 60w warm light at night- so it is seen and used in several variations of light and shadow. I'll mention the color as seen with direct sunlight- Dark spots look like medium-light black (not grey) infused with the darkest brown NOT stark pure black black- after my Dyson. The dark spots look like medium black and darkest brown with salt speckles as the background field sheds upon the dark spots. The largest spot is 4.5" long. Background color in my rug is: neutral tan with a slight peach hue. Peach is not my favorite color so it kind of hurts to say that it hints in the tan background but that is what I see in direct sunlight- still tan, neutral, yellowish in color with slight peach. From a distance I see a medium value 5 tan with black. I do not see variations of shade and tint in the tan but know they are there because it is not 100% one color. Pattern shows long uneven dark spots on a lighter background so you are getting a rug with this design. Some who see it might just see this simply as a rug with uneven dark spots, but it does reference leopard. For this rug I like the distance it gives from actual leopard pattern. It sheds, it is wool. I've only had it for 3 weeks and am happy with the rug, thrilled actually. Because the entrance is seperated from all decor except the bench the rug does not compete with anything. I think this rug can be made to work with traditional, modern, art deco, casual, upscale almost anything, maybe country flower would be an exception. I do not think it will hide dirt in the long run as an entrance rug in the rainy season but it is easy to move and it is a 5 star rug that I can put in several spots in my home and that in mind, decided on this size.

I was looking for an 'oriental' carpet to cover a bedroom wall-to-wall until I could replace it, so I didn't want to spend a fortune. I love wool and silk 'faded' looking carpets and thought I'd try this one because of its subtlety. I am very happy with the quality, based on the price, but the colors are not as muted or understated as they showed on my monitor. The colors are very distinct and the overall impression is definitely of tan and olive green, with punches of red -- not a muted taupe or tan. It's an attractive carpet if these are the colors and vibrancy you want. And, as for the quality, much, much better than inexpensive runners I purchased at a big box store. One more point: a lot of out-gassing for a week or so. But, generally, it serves my needs well and I'm enjoying it.

I took a risk and bought the gray rug without any reviews on here. Turns out the rug was really brownish (though the label said it was the charcoal rug). The material is actually wool and RAYON -- not silk. Also, much more 'patterned' than you can really tell by the pictures which might not be what you're looking for. It's not at all the rug that is described on this website (and not worth the money).... However, I have to say that overstock customer service was great. I called them immediately after the rug was delivered and told them the problem. They arranged for UPS to come pick up my rug from the front office of my apt building -- they handled all the shipping charges. A couple weeks later there was still no refund credited to my account. I called customer service (reached someone easily on the phone both times) -- she apologized and credited my account while I waited on the phone.

I have purchased three different rug pads for an antique silk and wool rug...the rug continued to "crawl" and form rolls. I read the comments about this rug pad and decided to give it a shot.I am surprised and pleased to report that my "crawling carpet" is now firmly and beautifully in place. No more moving furniture to smooth out the rug.Thank you, Overstock!

I've had this exact rug for over 6 months now and deliberately waited that long to write the review. When I first got the rug, it shed quite a bit. I have a Shark vacuum and EVERY TIME I vacuum this rug the canister is filled with shaded carpet fibers. Filled! I talked with Overstock early on and they were willing to take it back but I opted to hold onto it and see if the shedding abated. It has not. At this rate, I expect the rug to be threadbare in a couple of years. In addition, there are several areas where the individual carpet strands have pulled away from the backing. And my last complaint is that it is not soft to the touch. Friends of mine have wall to wall wool carpet and it's like silk on your feet. This rug is scratchy and uncomfortable.

Love the size and pattern. Reminds me of dandelion puffs, the kind you make a wish on :0) The gray color is what I wanted and it is definitely wool. I've purchased all my wool rugs from O, all beautiful and long lasting. This particular rug for some reason is not shedding much. However, the manufacturer used filler thread in the white stems of the flower and in the center of the flower. These threads are either silk or rayon and just weaved in and not knotted. The filler threads are shedding like crazy. Just hope that my Dyson vaccum cleaner doesn't strip it bald. It's a happy abstract of a dandelion. I enjoy looking at it. I do own crochet hooks and white wool and will fix it if I ever need to. For me it's a keeper.

This is a true dhurrie - the banana silk does not help make this rug soft. It is not meant for laying on, and turned my skin itchy and red from the wool. The color is a more blue than "seafoam" as advertised, but we're making it work. Otherwise very high quality, but definitely get a rug pad as it is very thin and will slip all over the place on a hardwood floor.

Some people complain about the rug not being think but check out the most expensive silk Persian rugs. They are not as heavy as wool rugs. So this rug is very thin and looks like real silk rug. If you like heavy looking rug then don't bother.
