The rug may work for you and may be what you are looking for. It is likely durable, and good for high traffic areas. However, it isn't soft and would not be good for children spending a lot of time on the floor. However, my biggest concern is that I was specifically looking for a hemp rug, so when I saw this I thought I had found the rug, the style, and the color I was looking for. When I received it, however, I discovered it is actually made of jute. These are 2 totally different materials. When I went back to the Overstock description, I saw that it was actually described as jute, despite the fact that they use "hemp" in the title. Please remove reference to hemp with this product so customers can be adequately informed.

Color: This rug appears almost white from one direction and medium to light gray from the other. We positioned it so when you walk in the door, you see it as white, but from inside the house you see it as silvery grey. My husband says the white looks like flocking. Quality: The rug is well made but thin. We purchased padding but it doesn't make much difference on our ceramic tile floor. However, the rug is very soft and feels good under bare feet. It was purchased to be under a coffee table and it works well as a comfy spot. The edging of the rug could be a little straighter but is very good overall. Design: The stitched design is very similar to the Chevrolet "bow tie" logo which my car-nut husband commented on. It's fine with me but it may bug others and it's not exactly clear what the design is from the photos. Value: Based on my visit to a rug "outlet" store in the SF Bay Area, this rug would have been priced at least 3 to 4 times the price on Overstock. Would definitely recommend this rug for its value but you might need to overlook the thinness, color variation and possibly the design.

Look - for the price I am OK with the shedding. If I was looking for a hand knotted Persian and paid that price it might be a review. This is a beautiful rug, I say equal blue/cream in color. Soft and does shed, don't think you're wearing black pants and laying around on this unscathed. Point is if you plan to walk on it, and it's use is to cover a floor stylishly - you're in luck.

a lovely addition to my apartment. A nicely made carpet made of wool. Hope it will last.

After reading some of the reviews, I was nervous to purchase this rug for fear of shedding. But to be honest, we can't afford a hand-knotted runner in this size, so we went ahead and bought this one just to have something on the bare floor. Well, we love this rug -- we haven't had any pilling issues. It's very pretty and has held up great in the last year.

This is a wonderful rug pad. I did have to cut it to fit my rug, because my rug has an irregular size. But, it was easy to cut and is absolutely wonderful under my hand-knotted rug.

I ordered this beautiful area rug with some misgivings after reading some review comments about its faded appearance. All I can say is that I could not be happier with this purchase. The monitor colors were true to the real appearance, so if an elegant, old world look is what you want, you can' beat this item, especially for the price. If you shop around and look at heirloom quality hand-knotted carpets, none of them have the vibrant look; all have a low-key look that is classic and enduring, just like this hand-tufted, modern-made carpet. The lovely colors have brought much-needed spark to a very neutral bedroom without overwhelming the eye. The quality is very good, and I have had no problem with excessive shedding. Enjoy!

This is a good looking rug that feels great underfoot due to its thicker pile. Make no mistake, this is a cheaper quality rug and it sheds horribly for months. However, an appropriate level of quality for this price point and if you can deal with the shedding it's great. Be prepared to vacuum it every day for the first few months. If you're expecting hand knotted quality, then you'll be disappointed. If you have realistic expectations, then this is a good value for the price.

But be cautious, hand tufted is glued, hand knotted is better. If this doesn't work I'll get hand knotted. Company was wonderful to work with for replacement

Just perfect for the purpose I purchased it for. I needed a small rug for the tiny hall leading to the guest bath in a high traffic area and this fits. Not wanting to go to the expense of a hand knotted I feel this was a good value.

Truly a beautiful rug. Slightly different color than picture represents though.

The rug looks nice, but the quality of the wool is very poor. I expect this is true of all tufted rugs in this price range. When you run your hand across a rug and pieces of wool come loose that's a sign of poor wool quality. Also, it's a very hard wool, like an itchy sweater. Sit on the rug, then on your couch and you have an itchy couch. The biggest problem is that they shed a lot of wool and a tremendous amount of dust. This will slow down but never stop over time, despite what you hear. A high quality hand knotted rug is more expensive. The return policy was good (only $XX for shipping).

Do not purchase!!!! This rug NEVER STOPS SHEDDING. I've had enough and I am online right now searching for a new rug. This rug is NOT hand-knotted. That description of this rug is misleading. It is hand-tufted and obviously not secured enough in the backing.

I needed an areas rug that would go with a "different" color wall to wall carpet, and this is just perfect. It is a heavy, substantial rug, nicely done, and the center is a nice, understated shade of "rose." Definitely recommend this.

I own a couple hand-knotted wool rugs I purchased in the middle east, so while I gave this rug an excellent rating, it is not high-end. What it is, is a nice, wool rug that I use in my bathroom. I like it because of its very dark espresso color and the patterns in it and the fact that it is wool. It is soft enough to step on out of the shower and is a good size. I like it better than a regular bath mat. Know that it is flat and dense, not plush and shaggy.

Beautiful pattern and color, very stylish rug but I expected a regular heavy-duty rug, and this was more like one of those mexican blankets - literally hand-knotted wool. So I'm sure it's really hand made and it is beautiful, but I don't think sturdy/durable enough for my floors. Would be better as a decorative wall hanging or something - yes, it's that thin. When it arrived, it's an 8x10 rug and was folded in half and rolled up like a blanket and the package was so small I thought they sent the wrong thing at first. It's a shame I really did like the pattern but it would be ruined in no time if on my floors.

This rug is absolutely gorgeous! Overstock receives high praise for the online color: the rug ---- with its many shades of blues and beiges and greens -- arrived exactly as pictured. The pile is thick, and the backing is very neat and won't shred or peel. My only minor disappointment is that it is hand tufted. So when walking across it in barefeet, it's hard to miss stepping on what at first felt like a small stone underneath, but as time as gone on we realize is probably the knot for the tuft. Stjill, the price is unbeatable, and we love the rug! So much that we wanted a second one, but it was totally sold out. We then paid an additional $50 to obtain the same rug at another site which said, "Overstock's price is so low that even though our web site says we will match the price, Safaveigh's contract with us prohibits us from any discounts lower than 20% so we are sorry, but we can't match that price." Great customer service, prompt professional delivery, and overall, an excellent rug buying experience.

The picture depicts a rug with the hand knotted fringe on each end. It did not come with the fringe, and I expected a higher quality rug from the description "hand-knotted", but they must be bigger knots. The pattern all had very square edges- poor detail like it was on a much wider backing than the hand knotted rugs I have purchased before. Luckily, Overstock was easy to work with and I was able to send it back without a charge.

We had already purchased the rectangular version of the rug and LOVED it. The circular version fits nicely between two semi circular couches They both provide a colorful southwestern style to the living and dining room. We don't have pads under either rug and they still feel dense underfoot. This rug smelled musty the first two days, but then the odor faded. Otherwise, the rugs are exactly what we wanted.

This rug is amazing…I did months of research for a rug that would work for my home…I have hardwood floors throughout my home..no carpet. I have dogs too; albeit, I needed a hand-knotted rug..hand-tufted rugs have a latex backing and can not be professionally cleaned without the potential of the latex releasing from the back of a hand-tufted rug. The price points for hand-knotted, for this size (9x13), were $3000 and upward. I was a bit skeptical when I saw this rug and the price point. Please read the following on my review of this rug: This rug is more silver/beige/light green/sage…silver being the dominate color (viscose/wool.. viscose gives the beautiful sheen). The color online does not show the true beauty of the rug. Online the picture indicates a more green/beige, it is not that dark. The striations are seen nicely on the rug, too. I did more research before I purchased the rug and it is made by Surya and the style is Mugal. Retails for $6000 (9x13). Needless to say, the rug is a great price point via overstock. DO NOT be afraid to purchase due to the lower price vs. the $6000 you will see on competitors websites. This is a high quality rug.

I ordered a few different rugs from Overstock and this one was the winner!! A few important details to take note of however: 1.) This is NOT a "Fine Sisal Rug" as advertised; it is a wonderfully thick / nubby / chunky / soft Jute. 2.) The featured image is a 'stock photo' of what could be any jute rug, but def not the one that is shipped out. The actual rug is several shades darker than the light colored one in the picture. Actual color is deeper and more comparable to a rich walnut wood. 3.) The weave is also a tad looser, providing a soft indulgent walking surface! *Tightly woven natural-fiber rugs tend to be less plush. 4.) Additionally, the weave is not quite as uniform as the one pictured. The one you'll receive has a truly authentic hand-woven look with plenty of lovely variations and wonderfully nubby knotting. 5.) Lastly, the pile height is more than 1/4" as listed under Product Details. It varies throughout the rug from over 1/4" up to 3/4" providing a soft nubby foot massage every time you walk on it. *Please note: If you are looking specifically for the rug in the photo, order item # 14175477 - it is an exact match! We were shopping for a large (9x12) super-plush jute for a low foot traffic living room and this one is perfect. It really adds A LOT of warmth in both color and texture. I'm not sure I'd recommend this rug for a high foot traffic area due to it's loose weave. A high heel could easily snag this rug, or worse - someone could trip!! This rug would be much better suited to bare feet or snugly sock feet in a family room, bedroom or low traffic living room. Re: all the reviews commenting on dirt &/or smell, I simply overlooked since I am very familiar with natural fiber rugs and already knew what to expect. Given the natural material, you should expect a bit of dust to fall out of the rug initially, but this will not persist. I recommend simply rolling your rug back a few times within the first month to vacuum underneath. (You will notice the amount of dust lessening with each vacuuming.) As for smell, I didn't notice anything... at least nothing offensive. If there was a smelll initially, it quickly dissipated once out of the packaging. In a nutshell, if you are shopping for a jute rug then you already know the "look" that you are going for, so it's really just a matter of finding the right match since not all jute rugs are made the same. I ordered 3 different jute rugs attempting a good fit, so hopefully my comprehensive reviews will spare you the same leg work. Here are the rugs that I ordered and reviewed: Item # 12349082 / Item # 13672088 / Item # 14175477. Best of Luck!! :)
