I don't think the manufacturers of this table thought this one out very well. There is 3 different cords to plug in rather than one integrated cord. The accessories were not specifically created, designed or even well picked out to work with this table. The tube for the air filter just goes over the side of the tank, rather than going through the bottom(its just ugly and tacky) The heater does not fit in correctly and is big and bulky which just looks bad. The bowl is made from cheap, thin plastic, and the base of the table is made from a thick, spray-painted cardboard. If I saw this table in a store, I would pay, MAXIMUM $50... and would still feel a little cheated when I started to put it all together. I'm gonna try to return it. My girlfriend won't stop complaining. A big BOOOOOO for this one.
I ordered the aquarium coffee table and it arrived broken. I contacted the manufacturer and another "fish bowl" was sent. Assembly was easy and our cats loved chasing the fish. However, after two weeks the plastic bowl started a small leak, which went undetected until it had completely saturated the fiberboard base, which then collapsed and soaked the living room carpet. We noticed the water level dropping but attributed it to evaporation. What a mess to clean up - you'd think that water would be easy to deal with. After contacting Overstock my purchase price was returned completely (thank you) and sole surviving fish is now living in a 3 gallon counter aquarium.
First of all, this is not a high-end piece of furniture, or aquarium...that being said, for the money, I am very happy with what I received. You get a large, Plexiglass bowl with four small Plexiglass posts that support the glass top(which is a decent thickness)...this bowl sits in the base (sturdy enough, but again, not high end material). As far as not fitting together well, as another reviewer stated, there is just not much to fit. Once the bowl is in, you fill with water and it settles nicely into the base. No one mentioned that in the base is an area that holds a light-bulb - the cord runs through a notch at the top of the base, so your table is illuminated. This is very cool. On the safe side, I decided to roll up a thick towel and place it in the base (totally hidden) just in case there is a leak problem. But the manufacturer has supplied all kinds of contact info if there is an issue. I was sparse with the gravel, as I believe 5 gallons of water weighs about 50 lbs, so I wouldn't stress this Plexiglass more than necessary. Also, the heater provided is way too big, but I can tell you, brand new, that heater sells for around $45 dollars so I am using a smaller, submersible heater I have, and selling the one that came with. All the decorations are nice quality as well...the filter is not the best type but suits this table well as it sits in a designated area at the bottom of the bowl. I plan to put a few dwarf frogs in it unfiltered, heated and lit up. If you wanted to use all your own accessories, the value of the ones that come with this table I estimate at around $70. So really, for the money, its fun and versatile. Personally, my big worry is my clumsy cat jumping on the table at the wrong angle and somehow flipping the glass top off (it only rests on the bowl, for easy removal/cleaning). She has been eyeballing it like crazy but hasn't had the cohones to hurl her body on top of it yet.
It would be a nice gift to a teenage girl. Cheap plastic bowl that bends when you pick it up. All of the equipment is there but doesn't fit together well.
This is a really great table! The filtering system works flawlessly. Just keep up on the weekly maintenance. Add anti-agile solution every 2-3 weeks.I invite my family over for home-made sushi and we eat around this table. It really makes eating susi fun!
My girlfriend and I just recieved our cool end table yesterday! We are so excited because this is our first aquarium. The only thing is that it could be a bit taller, maybe 2 feet, but I'm going to build a little stand for it. Also the heater is too bulky so we're going to just make it a coldwater tank so we don't need to use it. Other than that, we love it! We are getting our fish today and can't wait to just sit and stare. Oh, our four cats love it already as well, and they say they can't wait for the fish to arrive either.
We just set up this table and it is so fun...even the cat is entertained! It was easy to assemble and we bought really colorful gravel with bright fish. It took a little time to figure out the filter, but now it all works great. We also have the 36" coffee table that the cat sleeps on ....must be the heater inside (and the fish).
I just recieved it and this is my first time having an aquarium so I went to the pet shop to make sure I was doing this right. I had to buy afew extras because they only supply with alitte of certain things, like the cotton that goes in the filter and those pebbles(forget what they're called) that go in with it. But everything works fine. I love it and can't wait to go fish shopping this weekend.
The picture make thyis look beautiful but i just got mine today im im having a bit of buyers remorse it is very small and cheap it should be way lower then $$$ i keep looking at it and i get mad dont waste your money on this piece of junk
We purchased this for my sons 10th birthday, he loves it. I agree not exactly a high quality pc. of furniture, but we have it displayed in the kids play area. It make for a great conversation pc. and if the kids are happy that's all that really matters.
I ordered this piece and then thought it might be too small and tried to cancel the shipment but it had already shipped. Overstock said I could return it at there cost. When I received it I decided to open the box and see how big 5 gallons in a bowl shape would be. It was PERFECT for my use. I am very happy with my purchase but I am buying a small filter as the water is getting a little cloudy and I also purchased a different air bubblier. Overall I really like what I have.
The item is too short to use as an end table, and it makes you have to look down on the aquarium from above. The aquarium itself is small and once you put the filter and other items in it, you only have room for a couple betas or other small fish. The plastice bowl fits snugly in the base, but (at least mine) is not level. Very disappointing.
First of all, this is the second time that i buy spmething on the website and it does not look like the picture posgted..This time I decided not to return it and lose $40 again..For the aquarium, it ddi not come with instructions to set up every thing so I had to just do what i can to make it look like an aquarium..the accessories that came with the aquarium are hard to set up given the shape of the aquarium and the size..so I really don t know if they sent the worng accessories for the aquarium(water pump<heater etc..) or I just don t know how to set it up SINCE I STILL DO NOT HAVE THE INSTRUCTIONS..Other than that,I really like O.com and would love you guys to do good, but please post better pictures and more details about the product you guys are selling..thanks and sorry If I mispelled some words(French is my first language,I did my best)
When i received my tables i was suprised at how small they were, but none the less I enjoyed them just as much I love my new tables
We have been looking at these aquarium tables for a while and finally decided to buy it from Overstock. What a great price and the table is really cool. We set it up in less than 20 minutes. We also bought the coffee table, I am really glad we bought both, they look great.
My husband loves this product. We're using this as an end table and you can see the fish just swimming around. It was cheap enough and all we had to do was buy the fish. All the other stuff, the heater, pump and light were all included. When we have company, all they do is just sit around the table and gawk. I've never seen it anywhere else.
