No THIS is a sealer. Forget all the others, as the previous reviews state. This is a heavy duty sealer. It doesn't poop out after a long time either.

After buying 3 Foodsavers from *** and and having them break in less than a year. I purchased the Weston and have had no issues. It's just built of higher quality and can accommodate larger bags.

I wanted to buy Foodsaver but my wife said it takes a lot of space on the counter and all of the plastic will eventually end up in the trash and landfill. With this product each bag can be reused many times, washed and used again. Specifically I bought it to store coffee I buy from ****. Even in the tight container after a few weeks coffee is no longer fresh. You can see that all the oil on the surface is dried up. With this vacuum sealer coffee stays fresh until used up. Takes very little space on the counter too. I would recommend this to anyone. Love it, love it, love it.

Best vacuum sealer on market. Works better than any other I have tried. Other than it is a little spendy compared to competition and it does not have a built in bag cutter, I'd rate I a 5 stars.

I am a new user, but this is a very heavy plastic and it makes good seal. I use a VacMaster Pro Vacuum Sealer.

The machine works great at sealing & preserving our foods but it'd be better if the bag roll was stored in the device with a cutter like my old sealer...

I've wanted a vacuum sealer for a while, but hated how much space machines took up. I can fit this little guy in one of our kitchen drawers and not have to sacrifice counter or storage space. The bags are reusable and I've found that so far the two sizes have been all we've needed. It receives very good reviews elsewhere, unlike other sealers, and so far has lived up to the hype.

I love my new 2300. I've been using a friend's 2300 for over 6 months now and he finally wanted it back. Some friend Ha! A real friend would have given it to me for life...lol Bottom line is the machine works great and flawlessly if you use it as it's intended and designed to work. I do and have had zero problems with it. It's head and shoulders better than a Vacmaster or Foodsaver, both of which are low end low use machines. The Pro 2300 handles all my needs very well. Its simple to use and it uses any brand of vacuum seal bags. We're using it now in the middle of South Dakota Goose Season. Buy one you'll love it...I did and I do. The longer you have it the more uses you'll find for it. Just be careful who your friends are!...lol

Have used the Pro-2300 constantly for the past six months, and have had NO problems at all. The previous reviewer described liquid in the vac vent and tray. You CANNOT vac seal wet items. You have to FREEZE first and then seal. This is clearly stated in any vac sealer literature. Just put the stuff in a vac bag, stand it in a box in the freezer, like a cereal box, and then seal when frozen. We have found that you can partially freeze meat, and then seal with very good results. For freezing raw, it does suction up some blood/juice, but you have a manual seal button to stop the suction and seal the bag.You just have to pay attention and be quick! NEVER let the suction pull liquid from the food into the machine. That is not machine error. That is operator error. We freeze a lot of things! It it large, and has a permanent place on the counter! Great for resealing chip bags, too! We keep a box of gloves, a sharpie marker and the vac bags in the cabinet drawer directly under the sealer. We are ALWAYS prepared for packaging!

We have found the vacuum sealer to be everything it was advertised to be. It took some trial and error to get technique down but, it wasn't anything the was wrong w/ the product, just my inept abilities ... lol. One thing I was doing wrong was trying to put too much food into the bag to be sealed so, IF you have problems with sealing, it may help to seal smaller portions. Other than that, we have no complaints and, so far, love our new sealer!! Get yours today!!

I have owned other retail vacuum sealers, and worn them out. I stumbled onto this machine on the recommendation of a well know tv show. The price was a bit over the top, but as I unpacked this unit I could see where the money went. This is a commercial (professional) grade, whatever adjective you want to apply to it, machine. It is large, I can't store it in a cabinet, it is heavy, but it is efficient and performs like crazy. I don't regret having it on the counter, I use it daily. If you have the cash and get the use out of a vacuum sealer, do it and stop buying cheap plastic junk. I'm looking forward to hitting the farmers market this year.

Did some research on sealers and while there's a wide range, many/most only work for short storage. This one is an exception. A quality product that works well. One caution is that is large and weighs 20+ pounds so better to have a permanent place for it,

They offer an extended warranty on this item because it needs it. Don't buy it with out the warranty it is a very disposable unit you will want to replace it before the 1 year warranty is up. Or better yet buy a better quality machine that does not need you to spend more money to get a quality warranty. We thought after the VacMaster was a FoodSaver knock off of lesser quality a complete joke that this unit might be better. Wrong! a few months in the heat tape was burned out the gaskets were worn and it needed a new elctronic part , in other words a full repair. It is also a huge pain to be so careful not to have liquid go into the tray. It takes so much more time and a constant worry of ruining the unit because of the vacuum hole is right in the center. You can see it bubble if you get any water near the vacuum hole in the tray. We found out the factory warranty by Weston was a joke and we did not buy the extended warranty. Too bad for us!!! Again another retail disaster of cheap disposable throw away units that only last a year or so.

As a first time user I don't have anything to compare to. I like my purchase, although at first it wasn't working because I didn't insure that both edges of the sealer were pushed down properly. Once I figured out what I was doing wrong it has worked flawlessly on the few items I have sealed. Perhaps I should have given it a 5 rating, but again I have not used any other sealer.
When it comes to important modern inventions, the vacuum must be near the top of the list. The vacuum has become such a common household appliance that it is easy to forget it is a relatively recent device. Modern vacuums can't be completely attributed to any one inventor, as they were the product of several different mechanical and scientific advances. From their humble beginnings, vacuum cleaners now come in a variety of different models. From upright vacuums and canister vacuums to the bagless vacuum and handheld vacuum, vacuums have invaded modern life. Here are a few bits of vacuum history you probably didn't know.

Today's homes keep us safe and comfortable with air-tight construction that helps heating and cooling systems work efficiently. However, those closed doors and windows also trap air in the house, making it smell stale and concentrating airborne particles. Air purifiers are electronic air cleaners that capture allergens and contaminants, including dust, pollens, pet dander and odors. Unlike climate-control appliances of the past, most of today's air purifiers are quiet and energy efficient. Refresh your home's environment with air purifiers. There are several cleaning methods available; most air purifiers use filters or electronic precipitators. This air purifier buying guide explains the options.
