If you're looking for an inexpensive decorative trunk, that is still good quality, I don't think you can do better than this one. If you're expecting an heirloom quality, solid vintage trunk, this isn't it. Look at flea markets or antique dealers for that. With Overstock, however, you can get a decorative trunk that is still of good quality. It's light weight, easy to move, and looks great in my office. I use it to store blankets, and not heavy things. So, be mindful of the purpose that you want this piece to fulfill, and understand that you're getting an inexpensive trunk, and not a heavy piece of furniture. I think I got a good deal for the money.Read More
The product is beautiful and rich looking and functions best as a theatrical prop; for which I used it for; rather then as a true piece of funiture. Its intended purpose was that of a prop for my show and it worked out perfectly. I was very happy with the pricing, the free shipping, and the promptness of delivery. I have told all my friends about this sight.Read More

Reasons for return: 1) Item POORLY made, EXTREMELY flimsy and PACKED ALREADY DAMAGED. 2) Low grade stain used made the inexpensive wood look greenish. 3) Stain rubs off onto hands. 4) Nail pops occurred inside trunk on support pieces. 5) Decorative clasp on front was bent and in pieces.Read More

How to Fill a Hope Chest
Traditionally, a young and newly married couple would receive a hope chest, often made of cedar, filled with the items they needed to establish their home together, such as linens, crockery and oil lamps. In fact, the Amish originally called this customary gift a wedding chest. Today, these trunks and chests are often given to young women when they leave home. Mothers fill this storage chest with both practical and sentimental items, including heirlooms and necessities for college or marriage. Beginning the cedar chest tradition in your own home just takes a little bit of time. The following tips will help you fill a hope chest for your own children.

How to Clean a Hope Chest
Most hope chests are made of wood, and many are made from cedar, as this wood naturally offers some protection to its contents against moths and other insects. If you take good care of a hope chest, it can last for generations. An important part of this care is cleaning. Cleaning a hope chest is much like cleaning other types of wood furnishings, including dressers. You should avoid soaking the wood and should, whenever possible, use products specified for use on wood (and safe for the wood's finish).

Tips on Different Types of Jewelry Boxes
Keeping your jewelry safe and in good condition requires quality jewelry storage. Jewelry boxes feature a variety of designs; some are dainty keepsake boxes and some jewelry armoires are as large as your bedroom furniture. What type of jewelry case or jewelry organizer is right for you? It depends on the size of your jewelry collection and what kind of jewelry storage needs you have. A jewelry armoire is ideal for keeping a group of chains tangle-free, but a small jewelry box or chest can adequately store a large group of rings. As you update and expand your jewelry collection, you'll want to update your jewelry organizer system to match. Jewelry cases feature a variety of styles. Many are beautiful furniture accessories made of oak, rosewood and other fine woods and inlaid with mahogany or mother of pearl. Others have the classic travel-case design, with a carrying handle and leather or fabric exteriors. Use this guide to choose a jewelry box for your collection.

Select kitchen flooring that will complement the decor of your kitchen and stand up to the spills, scuffs and scratches of everyday life.

Best Additional Features for Coffee Tables
Don't ask what you can do for your coffee table; ask what your coffee table can do for you. Coffee tables are nothing if not multi-tasking furniture pieces that can accomplish a lot with a little. Trunk storage, magazine racks, drawers, shelving, hidden seating or even built-in ottomans are all possibilities, but beware of the busily tricked-out coffee table that includes all of these features. The message bears repeating: Think about the form and function of your coffee table. How will its design impact how you use it? The modern coffee table comes with plenty of extras, so choose carefully.
Best End Tables for Each Room
Although the most popular room for end tables is undoubtedly the living room, you can place these tables in nearly every room in your home. When considering how to fit end tables in the rooms of your home, consider the room decor and whether or not the style of the end table matches your own. Even more basic than the style of end table is its shape, so consider how it will fit into your room. End tables can be square, rectangular, round or oval. Some end tables even nest together. One shape of end table might look best next to a recliner, while another might be perfect next to a sectional sofa. Look carefully at the room in which you will be placing the end tables. Is dark wood or light wood prevalent? Is it a small room or large room? Will the table sit in a corner, against a wall or in the middle of the room? As you can see, end tables are quite flexible. Here are some tips on placing end tables in your home.

Best Sunroom Furnishing Ideas
Sunrooms are often some of the most popular areas of any home. Large windows and garden views make sunrooms feel like outdoor retreats while still providing the cover and warmth of indoor rooms. Because sunrooms are connected more to the outdoors than any other room in your home, pick design elements and furniture that work with that theme. Below, you'll find some of the best sunroom furnishing ideas. Seating: One of the most important parts of a sunroom is the seating arrangement. Since you'll likely want to spend many warm nights and bright days in your sunroom, you'll need adequate seating. Sunrooms typically feature either wood furniture or wrought iron seating. When deciding what's right for you, consider the overall look of the room as well as the intended comfort level. Wooden furniture with thick cushions is warmer and more comfortable than metal. A wicker sectional sofa with comfortable cushions will work well with the design of a sunroom. Alternatively, wrought iron benches and chairs give a modern look and feel to a room. Mismatched plush armchairs are a great way to bring both comfort and casual elegance to a sunroom. Tables: When picking out tables for your sunroom, consider how you're going to use the area. Choose a low table that can act as a coffee table for guests to set down their drinks. Tables with glass inserts match sunrooms well because of surrounding glass windows. Sunrooms are a popular place to go during parties and family get-togethers, so consider adding a small dining table and chairs to the room for meals. Design elements: Although sunrooms are indoors, they tie in the nature and wonder of the outdoors. Choose design elements that bring both sun and nature into the room. Wicker planters can hold plants of your choice. Place planters on side tables and on the floor next to entrances to give an inviting impression as guests enter the room. Artwork can change a bland sunroom into something charming and interesting. Look for paintings and sculptures that incorporate colors and themes from the surrounding decor.
