These looked good in the picture, but upon opening the package it was clear that the quality of production was poor. After assembling the screws didn't have enough strength to hold the head of the lamp up if it was even slightly repositioned. You can only screw down so hard before the screws break. These lamps will not last long with any use at all.

A very nice and sturdy lamp. Looks very good next to my laquer black baby grand piano. Looks more expensive than it actually costs.

Once assembled, the lamp looks nice in a conservatory, library-ish way. It's pretty adjustable and good for concentrating light on a particular reading spot. The base is heavy and the lap overall feels sturdy. It is not a cinch to assemble however. Not impossible--just takes some time, patience and willingness to do basic wiring.
