This was the perfect choice for my new kitchen island. The appeal of the rod vs. hanging chains influenced my choice; I hate hanging chains. The rod look is clean and solid. The metal is truly "antique brass" as advertised. The shading of the glass shades was an unanticipated perk. It's white at the top which provides great lighting, yet golden at the edge which gives an overall softness. It has a universal style to it. It brightens my kitchen...very warm and inviting. Quick delivery; packaged very well; easy installation. WooHoo!

We have this fixture over our pool table and it looks great. Ceilings are average height and this fixture fit perfectly.

We needed a light fixture for a new island counter in the kitchen area of our great room. We have a cathedral ceiling that' s easily 15 feet high so needed something that would provide good light, be attractive without overpowering the location and fit into our lake house decor. This fixture is perfect. It is well made, elegnat, yet simply styled and the glass shades are attractively tinted. I particularlyy like the metal tubing that covers the chain. We are using 3- 60 watt bulbs which give ample light over the counter for food prepping and plan on adding a dimmer to the switch to create "mood lighting' for dining. A terrific addition to the room.

It is a very ellegant light fixture. Unlike the previous Island fixture I had before, this one is small and gracious, making the environment cozy instead of too crowded.

I purchased this light for my kitchen island. Due to ceiling height, I had to leave out the rod, but the fixture itself is very attractive. The chain included was not long enough, so I used the chain from my old fixture. I purchased 60 watt flourescent bulbs, and it provides plenty of light. As stated in previous reviews, 100's were just too bright! I love the simple lines and style of this light (I'm not fond of lots of curliques). The finish is a subtle, brushed one that I feel blends in nicely. I was impressed with the careful packing of this light. This was definitely worth the money and I am very happy with this purchase.

We have been having inadequate lighting in our kitchen for years. As a matter of fact, I have "hated" the lighting in there since buying the house. Well after eight years we finally decided to update and move into the new century. What a difference a lighting fixture makes. I could not believe the dramatic change in my kitchen brought on by one lighting fixture. This Antique Brass 3-light Island Fixture is perfect. It puts off so much light I can actually, for the first time, only have the lights on over the island and the entire area is lit up to the point where you can see to cook and even entertain if you so desire. I would recommend this light fixture to anyone who wants to improve and modernize the look of their kitchen. I could not believe the number of compliments I received while entertaining this past weekend. I would like to make one note, however, when we received the light (which by the way came three days after I ordered it) my husband and I found it hung too low over our island. But, it was a quick fix. The bar actually screws off and he was able to hang it without the bar and it now sits where we want it to. I think anyone who has cathedral, vaulted, or possibly even nine foot ceilings would be fine with the bar, but I have eight foot ceilings and it proved to be too long, initially for us. It still looks great and we could not be happier. Also, the price could not be beat. I have been looking for a while and everywhere I looked similar fixtures were priced 2-3x the price of this one. Thank you Overstock.com for allowing me the luxury of having an expensive look without the actual price tag.

I purchased this and installed it. It is very beautiful. The only problem that I have is that it sits 23 inches above the island due to the fact that the top portion is a rod and not an adjustable chain. As a result, I need to return it and purchase another one with a chain at the top so the height over the island can be adjusted. I really do love the fixture and it is a beautiful piece for the price. Just be sure to measure carefully before purchasing. Overstock was very helpful with the return.

We purchased this island light to install over our copper sink in the kitchen. I knew from the start it would be too long, but since my husband is electrically inclined, he was able to hang it without the extension bar and only one loop on the chain. We are pleasantly surprised by the amount of light it projects with only three sixty watt bulbs. It's more light than our four bulb halogen track lighting. The UPS delivery man made sure nothing was broken before he gave it to us. The rattling he heard inside the box was the chain for the fixture. We are very pleased with the look of the light, the amount of light put out by the fixture, and the delivery.

My husband found this lamp easier to hang than he initially expected. It adds a beautiful touch to our kitchen and he also recently saw one very similar to this in an article on redesigning and updating one's kitchen. It's quite beautiful.

I purchased this lighting fixture to be installed above my new kitchen Island. This fixture is great and was easy to install. The light fixture makes my kitchen look like it belongs in House and Garden. I loved my new Island before, but now with this light fixture, I love it even more. We installed this above our island and it looks beautiful. Shades are alabaster look, we put in 3- 60 wt bulbs, and that does the trick. 100 wt tooooo bright. Recommend this.

I wasn't sure what to expect -- this lighting fixture was so inexpensive relative to others its size and style. In fact, it is BEAUTIFUL, and fits perfectly into my Craftsman-style home. The glass shades have those subtle color gradations that give the fixture a refined look. I am completely thrilled with this lighting fixture.It does not come, however, with the equipment necessary if it is to be placed anywhere other than directly over your electricity source. That was true also of my previous fixture, so I just used the "chain" from the old one on this new one, since my electricity source on the ceiling is a foot away from where the fixture needed to be placed; this new one now "dangles" rather than being set firmly against the ceiling. It looks lovely.
