Great value for the money and easy to put together. I've had this for about a year now and it had served its purpose well.Read More
There were some reviews about people having trouble putting this together. We didn't have a single problem. My husband put it together in less than an hour with the help of my 5 yr old! It's sturdy and stable and I bought some baskets for it and using it to store kids crafts/toys/etc. Perfect and can't beat the price.Read More
Very please, for price it is exceptional. Easy to assemble; it does have a few flaws, but can be hidden. Will buy Stereo Cabinet to match. Did not tell my partner I was getting it, but he is very please with its presence.Read More
This bookshelf is thick and heavy and looks far more expensive than its pricing. Its a great deal. Lots of compliments on it and it looks very expensive and good quality, not flimsy and cheap at all. Definitely love this purchase. We turned it on its side over a sideboard table and it looks fantastic in our guest room.Read More
The manufacturer included an extra metal piece that pierced a hole in one of the boards. We called the manufacturer and they shipped us a replacement. Butit took 32 days to arrive, they said it would take 7 - 14 business days. The shelf assembly was fairly easy. It took my husband and I about 1.5 hours to assemble. It does not look as good as I thought it would, but it is not bad and will hold our child's toys like I intended it to. We did not expect a great piece of furniture, but it is definitely going to fit our needs.Read More
This unit was exactly what I was looking for. I' m using it horizontally under a window in my dining room and it fits perfectly . The depth is just right for wicker storage baskets for my linens and showed off some of my tabletop Christmas pieces beautifully. It came as promised was easy to assemble. I couldn't be happier as I've been with all my furniture purchases from Overstock!Read More
These are great and are exactly what i was expecting. I was comparing this to the Pottery Barn cubes, and prefer the look and feel of these. Quality is good and they were easy to put together. I belive these are the same as those carried by IKEA.Read More

Bookshelves Buying Guide
Despite the name, bookshelves are about more than just shelving books. Bookshelves make versatile solutions as free-standing dry food pantries, open dressers or displays dedicated to your knick-knacks and tchochkes. They quickly convert into china cabinets, media organizers or shoe storage. Whatever the case, the right bookcase goes miles toward making your home into the haven it should be.
How to Decorate Book Shelves
It's important to realize that your book shelves and cases can be as chic and trendy as your other furniture. Your shelves can do more than just hold books. Adding a personal touch to your home's book shelves will make them a valuable and pleasant addition to any room. You don't have to add much to your book cases to make them stand out. Below is a list of suggestions on how to decorate book shelves.
Whether you want a place to store books or simply display collectibles, bookshelves are the perfect solution. A bookshelf is a versatile type of furniture that goes with any room or decorating style. Aside from using them for books, use the space for storage by placing baskets for magazines, games, or videos in the living room. Place bookshelves in the bathroom to store extra towels and bath items. Take this list of bookshelf essentials into account before you purchase a set of shelves.
Best Bookshelf Materials
It's not unusual for bookshelves to incorporate multiple materials for different features. If you haven't decided on wood, wood products, metal or glass bookshelves, look at their relative strengths and weaknesses. Look below to learn the best bookshelf materials. Wood: "Solid wood" is a common term for furniture made from lumber planks. Beware of making assumptions based on labels like "hardwood" and "softwood." Hardwoods are derived from deciduous trees and softwoods from coniferous trees; the terms don't connote their relative strengths. Balsa is a hardwood even though it is very soft, just as Douglas fir is a softwood even though it is very hard. They all make excellent, classic stock material for bookcases. Generally, harder woods are the heavier and more resistant to scratches. Still, softer woods, if treated correctly, will keep just as well as harder woods. Plywood: Made by stacking thin sheets -- "plies" -- of lumber and gluing them under pressure, plywood features grains that alternate direction for strength. Several grades are available, of differing cost. Top and bottom plies can be high-quality woods to create the appearance of fine woods, but edge veneer or molding is needed to complete the illusion. Particleboard: Wood chips glued together carry a much lower price tag than solid wood, and particleboard is denser and more uniform. It's a great choice when cost is the primary consideration. Bookshelves crafted from veneered composite boards can look and feel as good as real wood. MDF: Wood fibers, tiny chips and sawdust collected and glued into sheets form medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Low-cost MDF makes an excellent base for veneers; plus, its strength is consistent and it shapes well. Metal: There's a reason most library bookshelves are made from metal: Metal bookcases are resistant to moisture and fungus, their low-friction shelves are easier on books' bindings and metal's strength-to-weight ratio can't be beat. Their cost usually comes in below any other material. Glass: Glass bookshelves weigh more than other types, but if you plan on assembling your bookshelves only once, the style points can be well worth it. Tempered glass shelves (in wood or metal uprights, called "standards") give your home an unbeatable contemporary feel, and glass bookcases' smooth, transparent surfaces add brilliant levity to a decorating piece that might otherwise be notably opaque and heavy.
