This is a great find on Overstock.com. I'm redoing my bedroom and didn't want to spend a fortune on a new bed, but definitely wanted something simple and really nice. I feel like I hit the jackpot. This bed looks so much more expensive than it is. It sits very low to the ground and has a very cool zen vibe about it. The wood is a dark, rich, beautiful color and is shockingly sturdy. I couldn't believe that something that came to me in 3 boxes is as rock solid as it is. As a moderately handy girl, I was able to put this bed together in about an hour. People that really know what they're doing will probably have it together in about half that time. I did buy a bunky board to support my mattress. The planks are very sturdy and solid, but I personally just wanted the extra support for my bed. The only downside is that the top piece of the footboard was broken off from the main piece when I opened the box. It's the same complaint that a lot of other people have mentioned in their reviews, so it must be a problem in the original packing. In the meantime, I've attached it to the bed as-is, but customer support was on top of the situation immediately and are sending me a replacement footboard that will take about 5 minutes to swap out. No biggie. LOVE my bed and have been incredibly impressed with Overstock's customer service department.

I bought this bed, nightstands and dresser. Overall it is a great set and it looks much better than it does in the picture. The bed was easy to assemble, the only problem is that the bed needs a lower mattress because the headboard is not very high. With a mattress more than 8 inches there is really not much of the headboard that you can see. Otherwise it is a comfortable and stylish looking bed, especially if you prefer low beds.
The dresser and nightstand also look great, but are a pain to put together and the instructions are really bad. I made a mistake putting a nightstand together but once I got the hang of it, the other one and the dresser were not a problem even thought the dresser required a lot of energy to assemble. After all the work, it looks like a great set and I'm very pleased with it. Also, the delivery was quick and efficient.
My husband and I had been searching for the perfect platform bed for a long time. Everything we found was either too expensive, not the right color, too boring, to embellished, etc. This bed was the perfect balance for us - a nice dark color (but not black or espresso), simple & clean lines (but not boring), and a great price. We also wanted a bed where the mattress sat "in" the frame as opposed to just "on" the frame. Our only negative comment - the assembly was a little difficult as the instructions were vague and there were no pre-drilled holes for the slats that go under the mattress. We had to measure and mark them all out, and it would have been impossible to screw them in without a drill.

Love the bed frame. Easy to assemble. Looks great. Feels sturdy. However the wood trim on the top foot of the board was separated (on the end) from the main plank of wood when I opened it. I had a friend fix it for me instead of dealing with the hassel of sending it back... I knocked off a star on the review because of this defect...
This bed is just what we were looking for. We use it as a platform bed (no box spring). With our new mattress (14 inches high), the bed is a perfect height and very comfortable. Overstock provided excellent and fast service - we couldn't be more satisfied.
I was looking for a simple platform bed and this one appeared to be good quality at a good price.
I was hesitant to purchase furniture online, feeling it's something I needed to see and touch before buying.
The bed arrived in 3 large packages, and in good condition. There was no damage - no knicks, cracks, etc.
The quality is good, not great. It's sturdy and the wood is of pretty good quality. However, the finish on the headboard was very inconsistent - many high/lows - and not a characteristic of the wood. The hardware quality wasn't great. A couple of the bolts were a bit stripped (didn't fit properly) and could not be used to attach the sides to the headboard or footboard. I had to improvise.
Assembly wasn't the easiest, as the instructions were poor - not easy to understand.
The bed had about 10 slats, but there were no markings on them in order to properly space them out when laying them down and attaching. This was incredibly frustrating and added a lot of time to assembly, which should have been very easy.
I got the queen size and it's a very tight fit for my mattress. My mattress is average thickness (not a pillow top) and it almost goes to the top of the headboard. So if you buy this bed and want to see the headboard, make sure your mattress isn't too thick.
Overall, I'd recommend the bed, mostly because I think it's a good value compared to others I saw.
The bed, while looking exactly like it does in the photo, has extremely poor execution and is very frustrating to put together. For example, the closeness of the bolts to the bed means you have to do quarter to half turns of the allan wrench in order to screw in, vastly increasing time of assembly. Further, and worse, the slats that support the mattress don't hook into either the footboard or the headboard, and the supports under the central beam (meant to support the slats running from side to side) is only supported at two places in the middle. This means if you have a heavy mattress (like me) your head and feet sink lower under the weight of laying on the bed. It's just me in my bed, but I can't imagine how bad the sinkage would be with someone else. Going to have to do some modifications on my own to fix this. Overall, all looks, little functionality.
Are the slats horizontal? And how many slats do you provide?morka on Nov 22, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello Morka, I hope your day is going well. There is a single cross bar and twelve slats. The cross bar is attached in the middle of the bed to the head and foot board. The slats go from side rail to side rail. Thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 25, 2014
Two questions. Is it possible to use this with a tatami queen size?
I ask for two reason, one the photo does not show how the mattress is supported and if the frame is ok for the queen size (tatami has right angle in each corner)
The other, witch is the size between the frame mattress support and the border of the bed?

What is the recommended mattress height/thickess for this bed? The mattress I have is 13 1/2 inches tall, and I'm concerned that may be too tall for this bed.revrrlewis on Aug 16, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

It seems there are some discrepancies between the answers here and on the full bed. I assume that the answers in terms of mattress depth area / height of side board / inches from side board to top of head board should be the same. But the answer for the full bed state that the indentation of the mattress area is 6", while here the answer was 3 3/4". Additionally, the answer in here claims that it is 15" from the SLATS (not the top of the side railing) to the top of the bed. In the full bed, the answer is that the top of the side railing is 11" from the floor, which would provide 17" from the top of the RAILING to the top of the head board (meaning closer to 20-22" from the very bottom of the mattress to the very top of the headboard.
Now that I've confused everyone, can I please get 2 distance measurements from someone who is looking at this thing right now? Here are my requests:
1. Length from the top of the side railing (the part that I can clearly see in the picture) down to the top of an inserted slat? I'm guessing somewhere in the 3-6" range.
2. Length from the floor to the top of the side railing (the full bed mentioned around 11-12" I believe.
This makes a big difference as to whether or not I get a bunkie board, thin box spring, no box spring, etc.
Or, can anyone who has this set up tell me what size mattress/box spring/bunkie board you're using...and how much room exactly is from the top of your mattress up to the top of your head board?
Thanks so much! I assure you when I set up my bed I will return here and update every answer with an exact measurement...craigsan18 on Jul 5, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
