Zen Vibe, Sturdy, Beautiful Wood
This is a great find on Overstock.com. I'm redoing my bedroom and didn't want to spend a fortune on a new bed, but definitely wanted something simple and really nice. I feel like I hit the jackpot. This bed looks so much more expensive than it is. It sits very low to the ground and has a very cool zen vibe about it. The wood is a dark, rich, beautiful color and is shockingly sturdy. I couldn't believe that something that came to me in 3 boxes is as rock solid as it is. As a moderately handy girl, I was able to put this bed together in about an hour. People that really know what they're doing will probably have it together in about half that time. I did buy a bunky board to support my mattress. The planks are very sturdy and solid, but I personally just wanted the extra support for my bed. The only downside is that the top piece of the footboard was broken off from the main piece when I opened the box. It's the same complaint that a lot of other people have mentioned in their reviews, so it must be a problem in the original packing. In the meantime, I've attached it to the bed as-is, but customer support was on top of the situation immediately and are sending me a replacement footboard that will take about 5 minutes to swap out. No biggie. LOVE my bed and have been incredibly impressed with Overstock's customer service department.

Overall great, some problems
I bought this bed, nightstands and dresser. Overall it is a great set and it looks much better than it does in the picture. The bed was easy to assemble, the only problem is that the bed needs a lower mattress because the headboard is not very high. With a mattress more than 8 inches there is really not much of the headboard that you can see. Otherwise it is a comfortable and stylish looking bed, especially if you prefer low beds. The dresser and nightstand also look great, but are a pain to put together and the instructions are really bad. I made a mistake putting a nightstand together but once I got the hang of it, the other one and the dresser were not a problem even thought the dresser required a lot of energy to assemble. After all the work, it looks like a great set and I'm very pleased with it. Also, the delivery was quick and efficient.

Nice, affordable platform bed
My husband and I had been searching for the perfect platform bed for a long time. Everything we found was either too expensive, not the right color, too boring, to embellished, etc. This bed was the perfect balance for us - a nice dark color (but not black or espresso), simple & clean lines (but not boring), and a great price. We also wanted a bed where the mattress sat "in" the frame as opposed to just "on" the frame. Our only negative comment - the assembly was a little difficult as the instructions were vague and there were no pre-drilled holes for the slats that go under the mattress. We had to measure and mark them all out, and it would have been impossible to screw them in without a drill.

Nice
Love the bed frame. Easy to assemble. Looks great. Feels sturdy. However the wood trim on the top foot of the board was separated (on the end) from the main plank of wood when I opened it. I had a friend fix it for me instead of dealing with the hassel of sending it back... I knocked off a star on the review because of this defect...

Excellent product and service
This bed is just what we were looking for. We use it as a platform bed (no box spring). With our new mattress (14 inches high), the bed is a perfect height and very comfortable. Overstock provided excellent and fast service - we couldn't be more satisfied.

Solid wood, nice quality (construction tips here)
This was my first experience with Overstock. I read the overwhelmingly positive reviews on this bed and was not disappointed. You just aren't going to find a simple, modern looking platform bed in this price range made out of solid wood. It really looks great. I matched it up with a memory foam mattress from this site as well (the Comfort Dreams SOFT queen mattress) and it fits snugly inside this bed frame. It comes with plenty of slats, more than enough to support the heavy 11-inch foam mattress. Some would say the headboard is a little short, but I don't think so. It looks nice with the 11-inch mattress. Construction tips: -If you've built a few things before you won't have a problem putting this together, but the instructions might be a little frustrating if all you own is a screwdriver (the "instructions" are basically a few pictures). -I didn't have my drill with me, just drove the screws right in... although a drill would have sped things up by maybe 7 minutes. If you do not have a strong grip, you will definitely need a drill as it was a little tough getting them nice and tight using hand strength alone. -Once the frame is together and you begin to fasten the center bar to the outermost slats, leave them a little loose, you will need to skew the slats into a parallelogram to get them to clear the frame and lay on the rails. Once the slats are sitting on the rails you can move everyting back to make a rectangle again. Measure the slats from the end of the bed on both sides. Adjust as needed to make the entire support structure is centered in the middle of the frame. -You could just eyeball the slats, but I highly recommend you get out a tape measure and do a little math so the slats end up perfectly spaced (there is no guide or measurement for this in the instructions). Once the outermost slats are fastened, measure the space between them and divide it among the remaining slats.

The Alsa bed is great
This bed is great..We needed a platform bed to accommodate our new mattress.. we didn't want to have to get a box spring and wanted it to look simple..My husband and son put it together in no time!! You will need a drill! Very surprised with the quality of the wood..For the price I would say this is a great buy. I haven't slept on it yet but it feels very sturdy. Between our new Serta IComfort mattress and this new frame...I know we are going to sleep very well. Thank-you overstock!

Bed is great
I had our handyman put the bed together. I'm not sure I could have done it by myself. But he did it in fairly short order and it looks very nice. It's quite low to the ground, which I like, but our dog misses being able to crawl under the bed. It's a great product and I'd recommend it.

Beautiful
Since it came in a few seperate shipments it took a while to receive all items so that I could put this bed together, but once they did arrive, assembly was fairly easy. The bed feels really sturdy, looks beautiful and I get a lot of compliments. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
