This is a great find on Overstock.com. I'm redoing my bedroom and didn't want to spend a fortune on a new bed, but definitely wanted something simple and really nice. I feel like I hit the jackpot. This bed looks so much more expensive than it is. It sits very low to the ground and has a very cool zen vibe about it. The wood is a dark, rich, beautiful color and is shockingly sturdy. I couldn't believe that something that came to me in 3 boxes is as rock solid as it is. As a moderately handy girl, I was able to put this bed together in about an hour. People that really know what they're doing will probably have it together in about half that time. I did buy a bunky board to support my mattress. The planks are very sturdy and solid, but I personally just wanted the extra support for my bed. The only downside is that the top piece of the footboard was broken off from the main piece when I opened the box. It's the same complaint that a lot of other people have mentioned in their reviews, so it must be a problem in the original packing. In the meantime, I've attached it to the bed as-is, but customer support was on top of the situation immediately and are sending me a replacement footboard that will take about 5 minutes to swap out. No biggie. LOVE my bed and have been incredibly impressed with Overstock's customer service department.

I bought this bed, nightstands and dresser. Overall it is a great set and it looks much better than it does in the picture. The bed was easy to assemble, the only problem is that the bed needs a lower mattress because the headboard is not very high. With a mattress more than 8 inches there is really not much of the headboard that you can see. Otherwise it is a comfortable and stylish looking bed, especially if you prefer low beds.
The dresser and nightstand also look great, but are a pain to put together and the instructions are really bad. I made a mistake putting a nightstand together but once I got the hang of it, the other one and the dresser were not a problem even thought the dresser required a lot of energy to assemble. After all the work, it looks like a great set and I'm very pleased with it. Also, the delivery was quick and efficient.
My husband and I had been searching for the perfect platform bed for a long time. Everything we found was either too expensive, not the right color, too boring, to embellished, etc. This bed was the perfect balance for us - a nice dark color (but not black or espresso), simple & clean lines (but not boring), and a great price. We also wanted a bed where the mattress sat "in" the frame as opposed to just "on" the frame. Our only negative comment - the assembly was a little difficult as the instructions were vague and there were no pre-drilled holes for the slats that go under the mattress. We had to measure and mark them all out, and it would have been impossible to screw them in without a drill.

Love the bed frame. Easy to assemble. Looks great. Feels sturdy. However the wood trim on the top foot of the board was separated (on the end) from the main plank of wood when I opened it. I had a friend fix it for me instead of dealing with the hassel of sending it back... I knocked off a star on the review because of this defect...
This bed is just what we were looking for. We use it as a platform bed (no box spring). With our new mattress (14 inches high), the bed is a perfect height and very comfortable. Overstock provided excellent and fast service - we couldn't be more satisfied.
The bed should get full excellent reviews but it has the same issue that many/most beds have these days: too few middle supports. I easily fixed this by screwing in two extra supports under the middle board, which runs lengthwise under the middle of the bed. We also went to the hardware store and bought a few more slats just because we weren't going to have a box spring and I'm a bigger guy. With the extra supports, the bed was perfect. It's solid, we didn't need a box spring, and it never creaked or caused any problems and it looks great. Really good craftsmanship.
Wanted a very sturdy and simple bed that was stylish and goes with our clean line modern decor. This bed is excellent for that.
The only negative feedback that I can think of is the packaging... unfortunately these beds came in several boxed filled with styrofoam that could not be recycled (I even called different recycling centers, but none of them will take it).
Bought this bed about two weeks ago. It was very easy to assemble--I put it together alone and it was simple. But you do need an electric screw driver or drill with an Allen wrench and a Phillips head. Sturdy, solid wood with a sleek, modern look. LOVE the bed.
What is the height of the side rail to the floor?hippelove on Aug 22, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This QuestionThere are no answers to this question yet, be the first to answer it.
What is the recommended mattress height/thickess for this bed? The mattress I have is 13 1/2 inches tall, and I'm concerned that may be too tall for this bed.revrrlewis on Aug 16, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello revrrlewis, your 13.5 inch mattress will be great with this bed. It will not be too tall. Thank you for shopping with us! overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 22, 2014
It seems there are some discrepancies between the answers here and on the full bed. I assume that the answers in terms of mattress depth area / height of side board / inches from side board to top of head board should be the same. But the answer for the full bed state that the indentation of the mattress area is 6", while here the answer was 3 3/4". Additionally, the answer in here claims that it is 15" from the SLATS (not the top of the side railing) to the top of the bed. In the full bed, the answer is that the top of the side railing is 11" from the floor, which would provide 17" from the top of the RAILING to the top of the head board (meaning closer to 20-22" from the very bottom of the mattress to the very top of the headboard.
Now that I've confused everyone, can I please get 2 distance measurements from someone who is looking at this thing right now? Here are my requests:
1. Length from the top of the side railing (the part that I can clearly see in the picture) down to the top of an inserted slat? I'm guessing somewhere in the 3-6" range.
2. Length from the floor to the top of the side railing (the full bed mentioned around 11-12" I believe.
This makes a big difference as to whether or not I get a bunkie board, thin box spring, no box spring, etc.
Or, can anyone who has this set up tell me what size mattress/box spring/bunkie board you're using...and how much room exactly is from the top of your mattress up to the top of your head board?
Thanks so much! I assure you when I set up my bed I will return here and update every answer with an exact measurement...craigsan18 on Jul 5, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question

After purchasing the bed, would it be possible to insert a different headboard? Or would the bed have to use the same headboard as shown in the picture above?hopeelizabeth on Nov 27, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Thank you hopeelizabeth for the opportunity to help you with the Alsa Queen Platform Bed. This is a bed that needs to used as a complete bed because of the design of it. You can change it but you run the risk of things not lining up correct or matching. Thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 29, 2013
I don't think inserting another head board would make any sense. Also, I can't imagine finding one the other pieces would mate to properly.teble on Dec 25, 2013
What is the measurement from the slats (that the mattress sits on) to the top of the 28'' headboard? I have an 8'' mattress and I'm trying to figure out how far up it would come up the headboard.lidiajacy on Nov 17, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello lidiajacy, On the Alsa Queen Platform Bed the measurement from the slats (that the mattress sits on) to the top of the 28 inches headboard is approx 15 inches. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions. Thank you for shopping with us!

Overstockcustomercare1 (or anyone else):
Please see my question dated 5 July 2014 about this answer. This is confusing because I've seen answers that the mattress is 8" off the floor. If that's the case, then there should be roughly 20" from the slats to the top of a 28" headboard (minus the thickness of the slats, of course). The picture would seem to indicate there is more than 15" as well.craigsan18 on Jul 5, 2014
