theis bed is solid wood very easy to put together and the quality is way better than expected.. solid hevay wood good support and really easy to put together... the only thing i would suggest is adding to 8 inch wooden supports at the ends of the cross beam support.. the include 2 and im sure its enough but it was simple enough to cut 2 pieces of wood the same size as the leg stands they give you and just add them to the end of the cross supprot beam with a drywall screw honestly this whole thing took 20 minutes including adding the 2 extra supports...
i can not emphasize enough how good the quality is and how solid this bed is... and how easy it was to assemble

Purchasing from Overstock was a great experience - my first time. Placed order, received confirmations, tracking info etc. Bed arrived just as Overstock stated it would. Received all parts and hardware. Assembly was very easy and took me by myself about an hour and a half to remove from boxes (3) carry upstairs from garage and assemble. I had a 2x4 so I cut and added a couple more 7" supports. We could not be happier with the purchase. The bed is solid, nice color and we love the low profile. We will definitely be making more purchases with Overstock.
How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Right on - very nice

Arrived within a few days. Very easy and quick to assemble with a power drill. We bought a memory foam mattress and love how one person can't feel the other moving around on the other side. makes for a good night sleep!

We love this bed! It is sleek, well-made, and an incredible value! Our master isn't huge and this bed actually takes up less space than our queen frame did. It was easy to assemble and we didn't have to reinforce the frame at all. We paired with a memory foam mattress and I've never slept better!
I would recommend this to a friend but I would make sure they understood that the slates need to be reinforced as noted in other reviews. My wife and I slept on the bed for about three nights and then we noticed some squeaks and the mattress was bowing. We are not super heavy people. The slates clearly needed more reinforcement at the top and the bottom. Luckily we had some scrap wood and a chop saw set up for another project and we quickly added extra support under the top and bottom slates. It's been great ever since! Really easy to setup with a power drill. You can do it with one person in around an hour and a half. That includes unwrapping from the box and clean up of boxes.
I guess maybe I should have spent a little more for a bed frame, I'm not sure? This product has a nice appearance, but I was not impressed with the construction. It was packaged well and arrived at my home in great shape. Upon initial assembly I was slightly disappointed in the attachment of the metal flanges to the head and footboards for the attachment of the sideboards; some of the screws were not screwed all the way in, and a few were installed at an angle and did not sit in the countersunk surface correctly. It was just sloppy. Other than that the outside frame seems to be ok, a fairly solid piece.
The support system for the mattress was a different story. The bed comes with what seems like enough wood slats that span the width of the frame, however they are made of very cheap, flimsy wood. It comes with one slat meant to run the length of the frame and be the center support, it is identical to the other slats. There were also two center support legs included that were located about two feet from the head and foot of the bed and left a LOT to be desired as far as support at the head, foot, and middle of the bed. Once I had the bed assembled I was VERY disappointed in the support provided for my new, expensive mattress. I am confident that if I would have left the frame the way the factory meant it to be assembled, my mattress warranty would have been void if I ever tried to make a claim in the future. In my opinion this bed frame in no way provides the type of mattress support you would get from a standard steel frame and box spring set.
To fix the problem of the substandard mattress support, I went to my local Lowes and spent $XX on lumber and screws to reinforce the bed. I cut and attached three additional center support legs at the head, foot, and center of the bed. I also cut and attached 3/4"x2" lumber, oriented with the long side vertical, along the bottom of each slat, effectively making each slat a "T" shape. I did the same with the center support slat. My additions to the frame made a very considerable difference in the mattress support provided and gave me piece of mind that if a mattress warranty issue arose in the future my warranty would not be void. These modifications also took me around 5 hours to complete, although I am a bit of a perfectionist and activities like this usually take me a little longer than average. A fairly substantial mess was also made predrilling all the holes for the screws, but I have wood floors so it wasn't a big deal, carpet would have been a nightmare and I would have most likely disassembled the bed and done the work outside.
After having ordered and returned the Scandanavia platform bed that snapped after about 1 hour, I was sceptical about ordering yet another potential defective piece. I was pleasantly surprised to speak to a representative helping me with the return who gave me specs on the Alsa including a 3% retrun rate that was not usually for defect. It arrived and was assembled easily. I love this simple yet elegant king size bed. I am definitely going to order the rest of the matching pieces.
It is difficult to find a design like this in a traditional retal furniture store in the Midwest. The bed is simple, but looks good. Notice, however, that middle support is very flimsy. You may have to do a little carpentry to build a new one, unless the exisitng support does not bother you. I simply took a 2x4 and cut a new middle support and legs. I would have been disappointed if I was not prepared. Read other reviews where people had to do the same thing. After all is said and done, this is exactly what we wanted.

I have a mattress-15" and want to use the low profile box spring 5" that came with it. Could this work with this bed? How much of the headboard would still be exposed if I used this?hola22 on Sep 8, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hi hola22, this bed is not meant to be used with a box spring. Doing so will keep the mattress from staying securely in the bed frame and may move while using it. It may also exceed the head board, we do not recommend using a box spring even if it is a low profile. Thanks for shopping with us. overstockcustomercare1 on Sep 9, 2013
Hello, bambiatthelake. Hope your day is going well. Box dimensions are Height: 6 Width: 31 Length: 84. Thank you for shopping with us and please feel free to contact us again with any further questions.

Hello, lisaladeeda12. Hope your day is going well. In choosing a memory foam mattress, you should consider the depth of your current mattress and how the change will affect you. A thinner mattress tends to be less expensive, with the tradeoff of providing less support and not working with platform beds. In comparison, the more-expensive best foam mattresses will provide a much more supportive sleeping experience. I recommend you research this issue in order to determine which would suit your individual needs. No way, you have to buy it separately, but it's a great bed frame. Looks very nice and classy especially if you have limited space. It may seem very short at first but you'll really grow to appreciate itluelen on Aug 9, 2013

What wood color would you call this if I wanted a to get a tall chest to match? Mahogany or Walnut? Or more like an espresso? I don't want to have crazily unmatched furniture!lisamccormick on Feb 10, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
I just bought this in queen with the chest - to me it looks like a medium brown. It's definitely not mohogany. My mom says she thinks it's walnut but I'm not real sure on the difference between walnut and espresso. It's not the darkest brown so I would venture to say walnut. It's beautiful.raquel2012 on Feb 11, 2013
Thank you! Walnut is exactly what I am looking for so that's great! Thanks again, love this bed, def gettinglisamccormick on Feb 11, 2013
