Rain Collector
I rec'd my rain collector INCREDIBLY fast, especially considering how large the item is. Unfortunately, it was sent without the hose and spigot. However, I quickly got on the Overstock.com customer chat and the matter was resolved in a matter of minutes. The hose was shipped to me and even included an extra screen for the top of the barrel. The barrel is dark brown, as it appeared in the picture. The description states it is more like terra cotta, however, it is definitely brown. This works as my house is beige. It would look great as an ornament in a bed that is near a house as the brown would blend with mulch or dirt. My patio also happens to be painted dark and so you don't even notice it there (except that the hose is bright green. I may switch it out for brown or black). The barrel is a great shape and looks like an expensive piece of lawn pottery. There is a place on the top to plant a small planting - I am going to do ivy or something else that will grow and fall over the side of it. I am very happy with this for the price, the style and the tax credit that I should get next year for being more green!

Good rain barrel
Basically it is as represented, however after I purchased it I found almost exactly the same product at a local garden center for about twenty dollars less, so in my view it is overpriced. Also, the area where you would plant some flower is not deep enough, in my view.

thrilled!
I am thrilled with my new rain barrel! I had it set up just minutes after receiving it. And it amazes me how much rain runs off into it ~it is full to overflowing since the last rain. Every time i take rain water from it to water plants and fill the bird bath i feel i am doing a good thing ~rain water is better for plants and birds, i am utilizing a natural resource and conserving the city's water all while saving a little money on my water bill. Yes, i am thrilled with my rain barrel.

Algreen rain water barrel
Overall I am pleased with my purchase as I have been with previous Overstock orders. It came quickly. I was disappointed that I ordered brown and got green but it actually worked out well with the surroundings. My only complaint was the hose and hardware was inside the barrel and the screen was already installed so I couldn't get at the hardware. I had a hard time finding something to get the screen off and then one side would not come off so I had to slide the screen to the side to get the hardware out of the barrel. The construction is solid and I like the fact that it has a hose instead of just a spigot. We don't have gutters or downspouts so I bought this one because it didn't say one was needed, however instructions came with installing a downspout over the barrel. The screen is a little small for not using a downspout but we have made the other side to catch water also and works well under the eaves of the house. We just had our first rain so I have not had a chance to see how well the hose works.

Water Saving is a Lifesaver for your Wallet!
I purchased these to use with the rain chains that I bought on Overstock. They are not bad looking, and they hold 55 gallons of rainwater each (these have the option to plant flowers, etc in the top by the water entry point for further beautification). They can be drilled out in the back so that you can connect multiple units together, and come with a hose and spot for easy dispersing of the water that is collected. Water conservation should be on everyone's mind, but the impact that recycling rainwater has on your wallet would make just about anyone smile!
