Great for plants, but not really for sitting!
from Brooklyn, NY,  Jun 18, 2007

I bought this item to block off the edge of our patio from steps going down to our basement, as we do not yet have a railing. Shipping was super-quick (it arrived within days!) and assembly super easy, just take it out of the box, position the planters and push the center piece into place. I knew from other reviews that I couldn't plant directly into the planters, but that was okay. I put a large, potted varigated holly in one planter and a ponytail palm in the other and it looks great. HOWEVER, the "bench" in between is much better suited for displaying more plants than for sitting - it's not wide enough for 2 average sized people and definitely not for anyone who may be heavy-set. Since we're not able to use it as seating (and it is advertised as a bench) I gave value and durability 3 stars each - would have been 5 if you could sit on it w/o worries!

I purchased this for a memorial we are putting in at our fire department. It is such a beautiful addition. I added inserts to the planters and have hanging petunias and daylilies in them. They provide the perfect invitation for the public to come in, rest, and enjoy the quiet beauty and watch the many birds that make the memorial their home. This set includes two planters and one bench.

Very nice looks great on my cedar deck. I have stained them and planted the flowers in so it looks great.

Lovely in my lanai
Anonymous  from Florida,  Nov 26, 2007

I bought 2 sets and inserted a trellis in each of the 4 planter boxes. Makes a great screen when fully planted. Assembly is a breeze, and though small, these benches make a great stand for additional potted plants.

adirondeck plantar
 from pittsburgh,  May 17, 2012

I really liked this product when it first arrived. However, it has not weathered well. I have to keep pounding in the nails that hold the cubes together as it comes apart.

Still going strong after several years of use. I've planted two trees directly into the planters.

Cedar bench
 from new york,ny,  Mar 17, 2011

I was pleasently suprised to find this item came in fully assembled and well built. I stained one coat of sealer and it looked even better. I was a little skeptical because the price was so afforadable compared to similar benches, This is a must have if considering a cedar bench.

Perfect find
 from Pennsylvania,  Sep 16, 2009

I was looking for a plant stand for my kitchen but found nothing that would be "perfect". When I saw this I thought about what I could do to make it work and it does! I painted it the colors of my kitchen and I use the bench for putting all of my potted plants on. I enjoyed making the pots that go in the boxes and it looks great, everyone who sees it compliments on it!

Adirondack Cedar Bench and Planters Set
from Northern California,  Sep 16, 2007

I purchased two planter benches. They are of average construction, and look like the picture. I didn't realize they were not stained so I had to purchase a stain/sealer and do this myself. With this additional cost and labor, I don't think they were a particular bargain. However, once stained and sealed they do look nice on my patio. It's too soon to evaluate durability.

I bought this last year thinking it was the entire corner set up (meaning all three planter boxes), it is not, just two planter boxes and one plank. I would have returned it, but the shipping would have been $$$$$. I do not think this is a very good value.
