Went together quickly per the enclosed instructions. I added a few short screws at the critical joints to insure that it stayed together during use. If not treated properly the unit could disconnect at the joints. Looks like it will give years of service if not abused.
We needed some temporary storage for clothes while we built our house and stayed in a studio apartment. The closet does the trick but it's a little wobbly when filled with heavier winter clothes. I don't think this is an item meant to last several seasons.
We are temporarily moving into my parents home while we are in-between places. I bought these to help store my fiancé and I extra clothing in the basement. At around $** they do just what we needed. Cheap enough, hold the items, and cover them so they don't get dusty while in the basement. They aren't the most sturdiest, I have ours up against a wall and made sure I didn't overload them and they are fine. I also wouldn't recommend moving them once you have clothing in them. Place them where you want them and then add the clothing. We have one with all my fiancee suits, one with winter jackets, and then other with sweaters. So for the price you pay they are a good item.
This is made of several plastic connectors and metal rods. The plastic connectors which link two rods together to give the item its height are weak and break easily. I broke one when assembling the item. I had bought two of these, and the second only lasted about a month before the connectors started to fail. I bought this because of the cover, and what seemed like a good value, but it turns out I was wrong. I have since replaced with two much cheaper but better quality racks from Ikea that do not have a cover.
My cat jumped on top of it and bent the bars. had to throw away. It would be a normal portable closet though if you don't have an animal who would jump on top. The fabric is canvas which is good quality. But not strong enough for my household.
After reading mixed reviews I was pleasantly surprised with these wardrobes/portable closets. I ordered 3 and am using all of them. They have some pretty heavy clothing and coats in them and so far so good. Because of space constraints, they needed to be portable so my husband built platforms with wheels for them and they roll around nicely. I couldn't rate the quality "excellent" because when assembling one of them, one of the vertical bars broke when attaching a cross-bar. Not a big deal, it was repaired with a "splint", but you must take care as some of the parts are just plastic. However, all in all I'm very pleased with the purchase, especially for the price.
Like I said, you get what you pay for. I bought it to store out of season clothes to save room in my closet. This setup won't protect my clothes from anything except maybe dust. It went together pretty easily, but the cover started to come apart already. I wouldn't hang anything heavy or expensive in it. It will work for now, but I wouldn't buy another one.
