4.2 out of 5....unless you can afford to buy a new one soon! You could bring it inside every time it rains and during the winter. You could cover it with plastic, but that won't protect the pole, so eventually you will have a problem when the pole swells up. I actually had to cut my wooden umbrella out of the stand and the table because it was so swollen after only 2 seasons. I paid $150 for the wooden umbrella. I love this umbrella. It is lightweight, tilts, and has an easy crank unlike the ball and pulley system of the traditional wooden umbrellas. It does not look cheap and I think that the darker beige will be better in the long run because it won't discolor as much as my ivory wooden market umbrella. I recommend this umbrella and think it will be much more useful with the tilt feature!
I was trying to find an umbrella that didn't cost $200 but was still of good quality -- this umbrella is great --- it is very durable, even in wind and rain, and the red is a great color! The fabric is thick and the rain just beads off of it. The tilt is really easy to maneuver and it looks great with our table and chairs.
I would consider this a better than average umbrella for the price. Similar umbrellas I have purchased in the past have typically lasted me one or two seasons (usually the wind snaps something by blowing it around the yard). I am anticipating this umbrella will last as long or longer because of the aluminum constructed spokes and pole; and the pockets the spokes fit into appear to be constructed well. The material is, however, thinner than I anticipated. I ordered two of the taupe. I feel the taupe is closer to gray (as did my husband who is an artist and knows his colors very well). I was looking for something closer to tan.
I was very pleased with fast delivery of correct product ordered. However, I plan to spend at least $200 next time I buy an "auto-tilt" umbrella. After cranking this umbrella to the full position, I expected to continue cranking for tilt. Wrong. You must reach up and grab edge of fabric , then rotate umbrella to begin tilt. Further, the tilt is very limited; not enough to block the afternoon sun, which is what I needed. Spend more $ if you really want a good, multi-positioned tilting umbrella with quality fabric. Attractive and good in a pinch for all around "market" umbrella.
I selected the tan color to go with some print chair cushions. The umbrella is lovely, and i've gotten many compliments from my neighbors who spent much more for theirs. Great price, and it withstood a really severe cloudburst, so I'm now comfortable with it's durability.
Excellent value.Very expensive looking.Much nicer than most umbrellas in discount stores.A great value. The yellow is bright and cheery.
In my personal and my husband's opinion this product is cheap looking and the material is very thin. It is no where as thick as the one we previously had. Really wish wehad bought an umbrella from the store instead of ordering one on line.
I've had it for almost a year and it is great bang for the buck. I live in Southern California about 3 blocks from the ocean with nightly ocean air and fog and it is exposed to the sun for many hours a day. I don't know if it is made of sunbrella fabric but it has little if any fading. The mechanical parts still work as if new which is very good with the salt air. I don't remember if the stand came with the umbrella since it has been a year but it is fair but if you live in an area with 20+MPH winds like I do you may want a concrete base.
I bought this (in black) as a gift for my daughter and she loves it. The crank turns easily and both of us like the way the tilt works. For the price it is a good constructed umbrella and looks very nice.
Wow....I was hoping for so much more after reading all of the reviews. Received the umbrella just a few days ago---set it up that day. The red umbrella looked great over my table on my patio (loved the tilting feature). I came home today to find the umbrella was completely bent (90 degree angle). The post was broken and so was a part of the umbrella. What a waste.......such a disappointment.
The "auto tilt" function is very awkward to work. You have to manually twist the umbrella while holding onto the pole. Because the angle function is up high on the pole, I had to climb on the table that my umbrella goes thru to reach the section you twist. Then you have to reverse what you did when you want to close the umbrella. That was VERY difficult to do.
We bought this umbrella. Wind cane up and snap the umbrella broke. I would have returned it, but shipping cost more than the umbrella. DO NOT BUY if you live any where with wind.
THis umbrella is a great value for the money. It is sturdy and looks nice. The only thing that was not accurate is that the picture shows an umbrella with 8 ribs of support, when in fact, this umbrella only has 6, which is a cheaper construction. Despite that fact, this is a great value and a nice umbrella. I would recommend it.
Love the umbrella - Great fit for our patio table. Quick delivery and the price was right. All the local stores were out of Umbrella's as it was the end of the season and Overstock had plenty to chose from at a great price.
I really like this umbrella. The crank is easy to use. The tilt feature is hard to do because I am short and it's hard for me to get enough leverage to turn it to tilt it. I think maybe it just needs to loosen up some more with use, then it will be easier for me. I only wish I would have paid the extra and gotten the 10' umbrella, as this one barely covers my seating area.
Provides very good coverage, keep it opened all the time except if very windy ( which we get very little of), looks very nice, easy to open and close, like the tie to keep it closed. Not too fond of tilt feature. If you're less than 5ft '7, probably have to stand on something to reach the umbrella itself, then spin clockwise and with every turn the umbrella tilts more and more. Now if there's a breeze, the umbrella will continue to turn and tilt. All in all, we're satisfied with it.
I was very pleased with the product, the quality and the very quick shipping. The product is actually better than I had anticipated. I now recommend all my friends check overstock.com first when making a purchase!
We were expecting a bargain on a high quality umbrella. However, the product is "value wise" about what we paid for in comparison to other umbrellas available in the local marketplace. The umbrella material is light weight, and the number of rib supports less that others we have seen. The umbrella is colorful and accomplishes its purpose.
This umbrella looks good but is so light weight that it turns inside out like a small rain umbrella when it's at all windy. We live on a lake and the umbrella is on the deck so wind is a constant. It is virtually unusable unless it is totally calm outside.
I really like this umbrella. I purchased the black and it looks way cool. The size is nice for my table, not huge. It looks like it cost a lot more then what I paid. I just really like it. Thanks O. I would like to see even a bigger size like this one for a different area in the yard. Hint. Hint.
