I am trying to decide between the maple and oak, I am putting the bookcase in a room with oak furniture with a clear finish, so it looks like the maple might be a better match. The oak finish looks like the equivalent of a country oak stain. Would that be accurate?

A surprisingly high quality shelving unit for the price. Looks more expensive. We ordered 4 units and created the effect of a built-in wall of shelves. The units are incredibly easy to assemble and when placed side by side on a flat surface look like a singe unit. The unit is structurally sound, the shelves will not bend and because they are movable, you can really dress up a room. Absolutely delighted with the product.Read More
great product, sturdy, and looks very nice , , Helpful tips for future packaging !! the nails for the back of shelf should of been shorter, had to use are own nails . helpful if the larger pieces were labeled instead of comparing them to the picturesRead More
I needed a very tall bookcase for a specific area; this one is perfect. It looks more expensive than it is. The assembly was slightly tricky but very do-able. I love the look. It's a great value.Read More
Better quality than I was expecting. The bookcases are beautiful.Read More
It wasn't easy to interpret the instructions. Some of the shelves are bowing under the weight of the books but serves it's purpose.Read More
This shelf looks cheap, but it is, so I was not expecting much. I bought it in Oak, and the color looks very old fashioned and something my grandparents would have in their house. It took over 5 hours to put it together for 2 people, and some of the main pieces were either cracked or did not come together right - I did not return it simply to avoid the hassle. If you want a cheap shelf for a couple of years, this will do - if you want a quality piece, keep looking.Read More
I'm not entirely happy with this purchase. The whole unit is made with pressed wood and the veneer is printed paper stuck onto the pressed wood panels and shelves. It has no feet, so the open edges of the pressed wood sits directly on the floor, these edges will deteriorate over time. Finally when originally shipped only half of the needed hardware was in the shipment. I had to call to request the 2nd bag of hardware and wait a week for its arrival.Read More
This bookcase looks great once completed. The workmanship however is not good. I had to be very gentle with the pieces during assembly as the press board is very cheap. Im even afraid to move it. If you've ever had Bush furniture that is the one to go with.Read More
It takes hours to assemble the book case. Once assembled, the product is not stable at all. Apperance may be good, but I could have spent the money wisely.Read More
This book shelf is actually 2 separate bookshelves that eventually make 1 large wall unit. It is 6 feet tall, so it definitely required 2 people to assemble and additional mechanisms to ensure it's placement since it stands so tall. It is quite nice looking and a great addition to my living space.Read More

Best Bookshelf Materials
It's not unusual for bookshelves to incorporate multiple materials for different features. If you haven't decided on wood, wood products, metal or glass bookshelves, look at their relative strengths and weaknesses. Look below to learn the best bookshelf materials. Wood: "Solid wood" is a common term for furniture made from lumber planks. Beware of making assumptions based on labels like "hardwood" and "softwood." Hardwoods are derived from deciduous trees and softwoods from coniferous trees; the terms don't connote their relative strengths. Balsa is a hardwood even though it is very soft, just as Douglas fir is a softwood even though it is very hard. They all make excellent, classic stock material for bookcases. Generally, harder woods are the heavier and more resistant to scratches. Still, softer woods, if treated correctly, will keep just as well as harder woods. Plywood: Made by stacking thin sheets -- "plies" -- of lumber and gluing them under pressure, plywood features grains that alternate direction for strength. Several grades are available, of differing cost. Top and bottom plies can be high-quality woods to create the appearance of fine woods, but edge veneer or molding is needed to complete the illusion. Particleboard: Wood chips glued together carry a much lower price tag than solid wood, and particleboard is denser and more uniform. It's a great choice when cost is the primary consideration. Bookshelves crafted from veneered composite boards can look and feel as good as real wood. MDF: Wood fibers, tiny chips and sawdust collected and glued into sheets form medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Low-cost MDF makes an excellent base for veneers; plus, its strength is consistent and it shapes well. Metal: There's a reason most library bookshelves are made from metal: Metal bookcases are resistant to moisture and fungus, their low-friction shelves are easier on books' bindings and metal's strength-to-weight ratio can't be beat. Their cost usually comes in below any other material. Glass: Glass bookshelves weigh more than other types, but if you plan on assembling your bookshelves only once, the style points can be well worth it. Tempered glass shelves (in wood or metal uprights, called "standards") give your home an unbeatable contemporary feel, and glass bookcases' smooth, transparent surfaces add brilliant levity to a decorating piece that might otherwise be notably opaque and heavy. TV Stand Buying Guide
Lately, television consoles, stands and storage racks have been exhibiting updated designs, sporting storage for your media essentials in models that are tastefully coordinated to the rest of your living room furniture. Compact TV stands and corner TV stands are convenient in smaller apartments, dorm rooms and offices, but even large homes can benefit from the clean look and discreet presence of a television stand. As more people upgrade to lean flat-panel televisions, they are seeing that the smaller size of a TV stand is all they need. The furniture industry usually reserves the term "entertainment center" for the largest TV furniture, big enough for the television, a cadre of audio or video components and a full CD-DVD collection. TV stands tend to be smaller than full entertainment centers while still having enough shelves for a few components and some media storage. For smaller homes or for smaller rooms in larger homes a stand may be all the TV furniture you need.
