Perfect rug, color is more steel grey, hand knotted and great if you have pets…I use a professional rug company to clean my other hand knotted rugs and was told that the latex backing will not clean well with pet accidents… This rug will clean perfectly since there is no latex backing. I returned the rug due to needing a larger size for my room. It will be placed on hardwoods floors…I liked the quality of the rug so I am waiting until the 9x12 will return in stock to purchase. It is plush to walk on and even lie down to watch a show.

The "sand" rug is a light beige color. The photo on overstock is apparently of an olive colored rug. I wanted a light rug with a low knit and this is what I got. It looks and feels genuine - it is soft, has short fringes on the ends, and it is thin rather than plushy like carpet. I'm pleased.

I think if someone is buying a hand knotted rug it would be prudent to let the customer know how many knots per square inch the rug contains

Fibers are much larger than a typical hand-knotted wool rug. Seems a little coarse.

It definitely looks hand woven. Very thick knotted loops. It looks expensive. I wanted something flatter, but it is nice.

Very nice quality as it is hand knotted and wool. Nice pile and great colors. Overall, great value for the money. Received very fast too. Highly recommended.

How can a handmade rug be so cheap? Because it is "handmade" not "hand-knotted". The fibers seem to be glued onto the base, just like a commercial office building carpet. It looks pretty good and maybe this is the future, but you'd have to allow a month or two for the volatile organic compounds to outgas. A standard Oriental carpet is just knotted fibers and can be used immediately, of course.

Altough the thickness and texture were some different than the photo portrayed, I like this rug even more than I had anticipated. It is a thick, coarse hemp; I would estimate 1/2" to 3/4" thick. The hand-knotted aspect is quite apparent with varying sizes of knots. The color is slightly varigated as shown. It is a beautiful, rustic addition to any room.

This rug is lovely. It is handmade and shows very good quality workmanship. It is a little more golden tone than I thought from the picture. I would have preferred more of a light tan. The rug is soft and sturdy and a very good price for a rug that is hand-knotted.

Love the rug, the border is muted, beautiful pattern. I bought the black because I have black accents in the room, however, I think I could have gone with many others. It was a tough choice. I will eventually order a hand knotted rug, as I think that would lend more of a richness to a room.

This rug is beautiful. My only word of caution is the yarn (not sure exactly what the material is) pulls out quite a bit in the beginning. I have had to hand knot >20 strands that have pulled out to stop it from pulling further. I expect shedding with new rugs so this did not bother me.

I purchased this rug to use in our newly remodeled bathroom. I bought it because it was hand-knotted, and the right size and colors for the area. The rug arrived well-packaged and wrapped. I was immediately impressed with the richness of the colors. My disappointment is in the density and height of the wool. I have had Gabbeh rugs that were hand-knotted, and they were much denser, and had more height. Overall I would say the rug is a reasonable good value, the style is nice, but the actual quality of the rug was disappointing to me. l will keep the rug, since it is versatile and can be used in other parts of the house. But I need a better rug to be in our new bathroom.

The rug is a great price and is well made nobody would ever mistake it for a hand knotted Persian rug but I never expected it to for this price. It is under my living room furniture right now and is nice and plush under the feet and looks very nice in the room I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

This rug is so beautiful and totally worth every penny! I was hesitant since the picture did not really show the colors very well. I received it within just 2 days of ordering and was so pleased with the quality and workmanship when I opened it up. Amazing value compared to hand knotted rugs in the store. This has redeemed my faith in Overstock.

Got this four days age and so far I am pleased with this rug. It feels plush and soft underfoot as well as looking great. I wanted a natural fiber rug the kids would be comfortable playing and reading on, and this fits the bill perfectly. It is our 1st hand-tufted wool rug so I can't compare to other rugs of the same type, but the quality seems good for the price. (Wish we could have gone with hand-knotted, but this is a good compromise.) Blue is more dominant in person than in the picture, but blue/gold describes the colors well and they are well balanced. I am glad I chose this rug.

I just received this rug and love it. The colors are a bit darker than what appears online but I'm happy that they are. The main color is closer to a khaki/taupe color instead of beige like in the picture. And there is no black as stated, it's a dark chocolate brown instead. The wool is very soft, my kids love playing on it. The only issue I had was that the 'brief description' and 'details' area stated the rug was "hand-knotted" but it's actually hand-tufted. In any event it's a great rug for a great price.

I really love this design, it looks great in my son's nursery with the ocean theme. The colors are really beautiful and the wool is very soft. My only issue with it is the fuzz. I end up having to vacuum it constantly so my son doesn't eat the fuzz coming off of it, and I do notice some pulls now. We have a dyson, so it could be that the suction is just too strong for it, but I have 3 other rugs in my house (including another new one) that don't have that much fuzz. I would have gone with a hand knotted rug in hindsight, rather than hand tufted, despite the huge price difference.

this is 1 of 8 rugs i bought in the past month from OS. the others were all wool. it's the first polypropylene rug i have ever bought. it's soft and beautiful, and doesn't shed! perfect for what i bought it for [guest room]. i had 2 heirloom hand-knotted oriental rugs prior and didn't want to spend that amount per rug for my new home, so bought hand tufted wool rugs thinking they would be similar. Not true--the hand tufted ones required twice daily vacuuming for the first week, and daily for the next 2-3 weeks. 11 vacuum bags later, bought this one, and couldn't be happier. Quality is excellent. no shedding. colors are beautiful. goes with everything and isn't high maintenance. what more could u ask for?

Purchased two of these wool rugs right before Christmas. Ordered on a Friday evening they were at my door on Monday afternoon. Quick delivery. Well packaged. Clean, fresh, no smells. They rolled right out almost perfectly flat – except for one end has a slight curl to it. A book would probably take care of that. I purchased the 5’ by 8’ rugs to go in the family room. The rugs are hand knotted and I was concerned that they wouldn’t match. I know when a rug is hand made - two different hands do not usually make the same product. Well, the only difference I see in the rugs is the color. One rug is a slight shade darker than the other rug. This is due to dye lot, not workmanship. Both rugs are beautiful. The description state the rug is black, tan and gold. Colors? Black definitely, the Tan is very subtle, the Gold is more of a bronze gold, a darker shade. Not a Yellow or Brassy “gold”. Because the rug has such a large graphic design – I was concerned about two of them being overwhelming in one room. But – BECAUSE the colors are so muted – they do not screamed at you - they fit right in. My drapes have shades of black, gold, tan, and this compliments them beautifully. They are placed on a hardwood floor under two different coffee tables. Even though the tables are large and heavy I am going to order the no skid rug pads. Sometimes when you step on the rug I feel it moving a little under foot. The rugs are nice, plush and expensive looking. Each is substantial – heavy in weight. Because the rug is hand knotted – I haven’t experienced any shedding. Please be aware that the main difference because a hand knotted rug and a hand tufted rug is the shedding. You pay a little more for the knot – but it keeps the wool in the rug and not all over your hard wood floor! I am very pleased with this purchase. This is my third rug from overstock. I don’t think I would buy from any place else!

This is a great quality hand knotted wool rug with rich color and thick heavy quality! It really is stunning! I had been watching this from the manufacturer and the price was just out of my range, and then lo and behold while checking out rugs at Overstock, I nearly fainted to see this rug at this price! This is a quality Surya Arts and Crafts Rug. If this an overstock or second, I wouldn't know it. I looked it over and have no defects on mine. This is a fabulous find!
