One of the sets of front legs to one of the chairs came broken, but Overstock promptly notified the warehouse and they sent me two (I'm assuming in the case that one broke again). The warehouse was a little slow about getting another one sent out to me, but the company was very good about notifying me that they had sent two notifications to the warehouse and that my shipment would be sent out as soon as possible. I must admit, I was discouraged when my first item ever purchased from Overstock.com came damaged, but the help I received has reassured me that the company takes responsibility to make their customers happy. I will DEFINITELY shop here again. The items are high quality for a fraction of the price.
Great value for the cost. Table and chairs are perfect for my small kitchen. Table went up quick, but chairs took a little longer due to the same reasons in other posts. I would have given the product 5-stars, but there were problems with replacement parts. The two small parts for one of the chairs had adhesive in the treads where the bolts go. I requested that the two small parts to be replaced. Instead, they sent out an entire set, table and (4) chairs. Now I have to pay for shipping to ship back the extra table and three chairs. If I had known, I would have just dealt with one less chair. Disappointed and a little surprised. I will be thinking twice before I order anything with multiple parts again.
The table is great. Looks nice, easy to assemble. The chairs, however, are another matter. They seem to have been designed by a brilliant, diabolical sadist for the purpose of causing as much misery to consumers as possible. THEY ARE VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO ASSEMBLE. If you value your sanity, peace of mind, back, hands, fingers, and mind.... if you have a job that requires fresh reserves of patience and compassion.... if you have anything that prevents you from taking about a week off to assemble these stupid little chairs.... DO NOT BUY THEM.
I put this together myself in 2 hours. It's perfect for 1 or 2 people because the table is a bit small. I love it.
I love the product, but they list it's stain color as DARK OAK. It is actually MAHOGANY in color.
The Good is that this product is very decent for the price - a good value. The table is smallish (but great for an in-kitchen eating area) but solid, as are the chairs. It actually comes together to make a pretty decent set and a VERY decent set for the money! Now the Bad. This is a pain in the rear to assemble! Like many product, this uses those allen-wrench type screws but they fit vertically along the leg in an embedded track. That means you can only turn the (provided) allen wrench about 5 degrees...say from the "1" to the "2" on a clock. Then you have to take the wrench out of the screw, put it back in, turn that ever-so-slight-amount again, and repeat ad infinitum. It's a pain royale with cheese, but...finally it gets done and you have a decent dining set. There were a few scuffs/marks on the wood, but that's to be expected when things get mass stored and delivered. Just use a wood pen to take those out - like I said, marking was minimal.
I have been looking for a new dinning room set for some time, I see this one, liked it, took the chance and ordered it, It arrived within a few days, I live alone and was able to put it together myself, It is very solid, JUST PERFECT.
The quality of this set is good and it arrived quickly. It really looks good in my living room. Definitely got what I paid for. My only complaint is the difficulty of assembly of the chairs. The allen wrench supplied is woefully inadequate to turn the bolts in the chairs. Since the bolts connecting the pieces of the chairs are recessed in grooves, the allen wrench can, at best, move 1/4 turn at a time. I was able to get out my drill and use my flexible drill bit and the correct attachment to considerably speed up the process. If you're going to purchase this set and not spend 2 days putting it together, use or borrow a flexible drill bit extension and get the correct allen wrench size attachment to use with it. Also a crescent wrench for the table legs would be usefull too. The "wrench" included with the set is kind of a joke.
