Horrible outgassing!
I like the fact that this bookshelf doubles as a room divider and a screen, and it's usable on both sides. Unfortunately it smelled VERY BAD immediately after unpacking it, and it took a day or two to outgas. If you can, unpack this shelf outside and let it sit for a couple days before bringing it into the house or office. Seriously, a couple of my neighbors came over because they thought I was using some kind of toxic spray in my office, only to find it was this shelf. Fortunately I have pretty good ventilation, but my neighbors didn't appreciate the distinct chemical odor and I had to leave my office early because it gave me a headache.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Good, but there were scratches.
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Medium - not really worth the $267, in my opion.
- How accurate was the on site description of the product? Very accurate

Great, but under the correct light
The review about horrible outgassing is complaining of the varnish, not an unknown chemical. I don't have an issue with any sort of unnatural smell above or beyond new wood product smell. I believe this product is well priced, but the quality could be increased if the panels were made of the same material or quality as the shelves. The room divider is easy to assemble and maintain, this is key because moving the room divider is cumbersome at best, so best solution is to take shelving out and move panels and put shelves back in - level: easy. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a room divider with greater function because it can serve as a series of shelving. Moreover, when I no longer need or desire the room divider, this room divider will work great as a book shelf or set of shelves along a wall.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? It's my belief the color is different, but that can happen with tricks to lighting. Just have to keep the lighting low in my room from now on.
