I actually bought this to use it as a shoe rack as all the "shoe racks" have shelves too close together that they'd fit running shoes or shoes with an inch heel and nothing else taller. Results: it's perfect! I have my short/ankle boots and few shoe boxes. I put it together relatively easily and other than a small ding at the corner of the mantel portion, it looks very nice and it's very sturdy. Here's a measurement they don't give (I don't remember seeing it) in the product description, shelf height: bottom 2 = 10.5 in, top = 9 in.
Appearance: Beautiful deep cherry color - matches my other mission pieces perfectly. One piece was slightly scratched upon arrival, but nothing a little furniture polish didn't fix. One drawback: The cheap looking, almost orange screw hole fillers. You know, after you attach the shelves with the screws, one side of the rack has a hole where the screw is countersunk? So those wood fillers to cover the holes make the piece look - shall we say - not as classy as it could be. Plus, they didn't include glue with the supplies so those little suckers keep popping out. Put some glue in there if you want them to stay. Assembly: It is nearly impossible to put this together solo. I highly recommend a second pair of hands in order to hold and line up the shelves as you tightens the screws. I did it solo but had a devil of a time trying to hold the shelf level and screw in the screws at the same time. It will be faster and easier with a second person, trust me!! NOTE: the shelves won't fit a book taller than about 8 or so inches standing up. So anything 8.5x11 won't fit...
great price, perfect match to the rest of my stuff. natural maple look. I wish the height of each row was an inch more.
This bookshelf is a great value. It's well built and looks great. Although I put it together myself in about 45 minutes, an extra pair of hands would have helped. It was well packed with no chips or dings of any kind.
Does not match my other mission furniture. Has a darker color. Nice style great size and sturdy.
This Mission Style Solid Wood Bookcase is very pretty and sturdy and stable.I am currently using it in the foyer of our home. I wanted to have a nice-looking "landing pad" for my husband to put his keys & mail & stuff in as soon as he enters the house. This is the perfect piece for our needs; we also store some bric-a-brac and books on it as well.It is a bit on the smallish side as someone else previously mentioned here, but that just happens to be precisely what we need for the space we have available at our entryway. If it was any larger it would be awkward to walk past it, and they DO state the measurements on the website, so if you're not sure, get out the measuring tape. My husband and I put it together in about 1/2 hour or so. He says the final product looks "classy", and I have to agree.I love it and would definitely buy it again or recommend to a friend. Thanks OS!
I was EXTREMELY happy with this bookcase. My main objective when purchasing it was to make sure that it was REAL wood and not that pressboard. You have to put it together but the assembly is easy and did not take much time. I would highly recommend this. I plan on buying a few more!
I ordered three for a bedroom wall. They are easy to assemble and sturdy. It would be nice if it had a solid back, but they hold a lot of books. They do not hold my tallest books ( like binder height books) and the selves are not ajustable, so be aware of that. I just have them on other bookselves.
This little bookcase works well, is sturdy and small enough to fit in many places, good value.

Just be careful when putting together. if you don't screw the screws down far enough your little round nubs that go over them will pop out. Some of the wood slates on the side were a little flimsy. Be careful.

I would have purchased the coffee table and end tables but they are not made in the USA. In this economy, let's put Americans to work. We are capable of making very nice furniture here.
This was our first purchase with O.com. It is a very nice book case, but the color in the picture is VERY much different from what you get. The color we got was almost white/yellow. Did not match our decor, it was a dissapointment. I wish O.com would post "true" colors of the product for its customers to avoid hassle with returns etc.
Picure of bookcase shows a rich cherry finish, Item I received is bone white wood- whiter than American pine. Wood has significant growth defects, and the item I received is built slightly different than the descriptive photo. Overall the bookcase is kind of spindly looking, not like the photo. I think I was ripped off.
a great buy-attractive,sturdy,easy to assemble and looks perfect in my living room.
The bookshelf works well for my application. I wish it was the reddish color as pictured and which would have matched the woodwork around it. However, it's closer to black than the color shown online. Most of the assembly was easy, though I had a helper this time. We got into trouble with the top, as others have mentioned. The pre-drilled holes are useless. So put the top rails on the rest of the assembly instead of attaching them to the top, then put the top on by itself as the final step. The provided screws don't really need the guide holes, which are fairly invisible anyway. I found what looks like the same thing elsewhere for more $$.
I like the style of the shelf and the apearance. It was not difficult to assemble. I chose this one because of the supports across the back rather than the pressboard backing. I think one or two of the side slats were fractured but not seriously broken in transit - nothing that would influence structure. I bought a large and a small one, and sitting next to one another they have to be a few inches apart because the top edge is larger than the side profile. I think this looks just fine, but if you are trying to set a row right up against each other this would not work. I wish the pictures showed the difference between the walnut and cherry finishes, because I chose walnut thinking it was lighter. It was not - just not as reddish. However, the two match each other, and that's all that matters.
This is a decent bookcase for the money. Very attractive.
I was very satisfied with the bookshelf, and I was able to put it together all by myself. The only complaint is that it seems like the legs might be a little uneven because it is slightly rocky, but it might be the floor. I just put a little something under one of the legs to make it more steady and it's fine. Very good value for the money.
