The quality of the stand of the shakers is excellent--very sturdy and solid. The top "knob" is just a rubbery type knob. It doesn't look bad but I prefer the continuity of the whole thing looking stainless. I actually unscrewed the top knob and replaced it with a $3 contemporary cabinet knob that I think looks much better. (I think Berghoff would even agree!) The shakers look nice, but feel a little lightweight in the hand due to the acrylic composition of most of the body. They don't look like plastic, but definately feel like it in your hand. I'm hoping that over time they do not scratch from being removed back and forth from the holder. Overall, I am pleased with the product, and I like the European look that they have.
