I used a mirror like this on vacation and just had to have one. I had it installed and was excited to turn it on -- Immediately, I thought something wasn't connected because it was getting very bright. At the highest point on the control switch, it looked like a window Christmas candle -- not a bright mirror to put makeup on with. I made sure both bulbs were lit inside of it, and then I called for assistance from overstock.com. After reading these reviews, I see other people have also had this problem. It is great if you are used to putting your make-up on with a 10-15 watt bulb, but if you want light, real light, this is not the mirror for you. In fact, it should be recalled. If someone works in an office and wants to apply the right shade of make-up for office light, your "screwed". This would even be too dark for a bar. Basically, if you need a mirror, this is a mirror, but if you want a lighted mirror, this is not a lighted mirror - it is a candle powered mirror. I got more light if I lit a match and held it up to the mirror.

I wanted a pretty large, lighted wall mounted mirror and this seems to fill the bill. The mirror itself isn't as large as the dimensions imply because the outer oval is taken up by the light---but a good value and attractive.

If you're used to a larger mirror, then you might have to adjust your view with the magnification. I'm glad I didn't get the 10x -- 8x is plenty, but you do have to be close to the mirror to focus. As other reviewers noted, the cord is very long, I'll have to do something about that. Pay attention when you're installing, make sure the plate on the wall matches the mirror part - there is a cut-out to accommodate the wiring and it has to match or the face of the mirror won't sit all the way. No problem as long as you pay attention!

This mirror was exactly as described and the reviews were very helpful. I gave it 4 stars because the cord is too long which is somewhat inconvenient. Otherwise it works very well and is a great aide for applying makeup.

I love this two sided mirror. I have it mounted in my bathroom and it makes putting on makeup so much easier. My husband loves to shave with it also. We liked it so much we bought another for our guest bathroom.

Easy to install--only two screws. It is so nice to be able to see to pluck eyebrows and put on mascara again. My husband has been using it to shave every morning. The mirror is thicker than I expected, probably because of the light. The light is a nice feature and easy to turn on or off. The outlet plug is a nice feature also. I wish I would have purchased this a long time ago.

I love my new Wall Mount Makeup Mirror. It is very sturdy and secure to the wall. It was very easy to mount and the lighting is great. Only wish the actual mirror were a little larger.

1) The mirror is too small. Hard to see your entire face unless you are very close to it. 2) The light around the rim is much too dim even on its maximum setting. 3) The 8x magnification is way too much to be useful.

This is a good looking mirror, with a sturdy extension. Since it is 8X it is very powerful and more magnification that the mirrors you see in the better hotels these days. Those mirrors are 5x magnification. The 8X means that you do not see your face as a whole, just partial views but very magnified. It also means that you have to be a little closer to the mirror to get in to focus. We had tried the 10X mirror and returned it because it was too hard to focus, so this mirror has been a good one for us. I recommend this mirror because it has delivered on all the details in the advertisement.

This mirror was great when I first received it and was perfect for my purposes. However, one of the joints on the arm broke after normal usage for only 6 mos. For the expense of this mirror I expected years of use from it rather than a short 6 mos. I would not have wasted my money on this product had I known it would not last longer.

We purchased this mirror to go in our new owners suite bathroom. I have to say the cord is VERY long and the directions specifically say that you should not wrap the cord around the mirror. Being that we only had one outlet available near the wall where it was to be mounted, we felt the cord would be too long and get in the way of other sink functions. We ended up keeping the mirror and installing it in our basement bathroom. That way I can use it when I really need it. The mirror itself is of good quality and the magnification is simialr to what you would see in higher end hotels. I would just be concerned with where this would be placed in relationship to other things you would use near a sink, electric toothbrush, hairdryer, etc....
