This TENS and EMS combo unit offers non-invasive pain control without the use of drugs. Made to stimulate nerves and muscles, this unit features adjustable cycles and frequencies with five different TENS modes as well as two different EMS modes....more
This tens unit is everything I expected. A very portable, easy to use device. It can be used with a single lead (2 electrodes), or with 2 leads (4 electrodes). The timing and pulse parameters will be the same for both leads if using both. You can adjust the intensity independently. You will want to purchase extra sticky electrode patches. I found them online and also at my physical therapist. Best price for extra set of 4 sticky electrodes runs about $2.50. You will get one set with the unit. They measure 1.5" square, but you can use 1.25" round or square for this unit. Depending on your skin and cleanliness, one set may last daily use for 1 week. I'm still learning about this.
You won't be disappointed with this unit. Good value for the money.

I suffer from alot of mid back spasms and neck pain from a severe car accident a few years ago. I've tried everything from P/T to massage, chiropractic, and nutritional therapy. I've been getting these spasms that last 5-6 hours at a time several times a week during flare ups that nothing seems to touch. This unit had greatly reduced the severity and length of the spasms. I don't go anywhere without it and even sleep with it turned on when needed. It's very easy to use and I like the TENS vs. EMS option. The construction is better than the last unit I had, I especially appreciate that the clip is metal as I keep it on my belt when I'm wearing it and I don't have to worry that it will break. Would definitely buy this unit again.
Only cons which I did not indicate in my rating as I feel they are more personal to my situation than the unit itself: Make sure you try different shaped pads, the ones that come with it where too small to spread the current out enough for my pain management. Also I was really hoping I could use it on my neck also but it does not help the pain there.

Please tell us about the quality of the product. Had to exchange my first unit because of an issue with the channels but 2nd has worked very well
I injured my neck and shoulder a year ago transferring one of my patient over to another bed and since then my back has never fully recovered. I occasionally still experience pain, especially on my neck/shoulders. My physical therapist at that time recommended that I purchase a TENS unit but that brand that they're recommending literally cost an arm & two legs (approx $700?). Well, to make long story short... I searched online one night for TENS unit and ran into this machine w/ lots of good reviews and with a price that won't burst my wallet. I was hesitant at first but decided to give it a try since the price was reasonable and I have to say... I am glad I made that purchase! Machine works great and worth every cent. Also, what more can you ask for? It's a 2-in-1!

The product arrived very quickly... before I expected it. I used the product extensively to help heal a pulled hamstring. My hamstring healed a lot faster than it would have without the EMS. A couple weeks later my brother borrowed the unit for a similar situation. He also had good results.
How did the image on site compare with the actual product? The product image on te site was identical to the actual product.
I am paralyzed and have tried cheaper stim units and they just didn't work well. This unit works great and can create a strong contraction on muscles that haven't been voluntarily used in nearly 4 years.
Whenever my back gives me issues I use this thing. I run the wires under my clothes and wear it to work. Looks like a slight-oversized beeper. Sometimes I wear it at night in bed, clipping the unit onto the neck of my pajamas.
My only dislike is that the controls are a little hard to see/use, but then again, the device is pretty small so there isn't a lot of room for big buttons.
Overall, really happy to have this thing!
Hello theresasweet and thank you for asking your question. Model DS2200 uses the pin style electrode connectors. Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions. Have a great day!overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 26, 2013
I see you can buy the replacement pads at other sites a lot cheaper... why are they so much at Overstock? Can you recommend buying elsewhere? How often do they neeed to be replaced? Thanksmariburr on May 17, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Thank you for your question mariburr. We cannot speak for other sites. As far as the replacement pads, if stored properly in the sealable pouch, at room temperature, these self-adhesive electrodes should last for 8-12 uses each. Have a great day.overstockcustomercare1 on May 21, 2013
Which is the correct answer to: does this unit have 4 leads so you can maassage two places at a time? Overstock said NO; but next answer siad yes??? Confused.mariburr on May 17, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Thank you for your question mariburr. The Twin Stim 2nd has two channels and comes with two lead wires which can be used simultaneously. Each lead wire uses two electrodes. In other words, it can be used with two electrodes or four. I hope this clears things up. Have a great day.overstockcustomercare1 on May 21, 2013
Thank your for your interest in the Twin Stim 2nd Edition TENS and EMS Combo Unit. I have found that the unit does not have four leads. Please let us know if we can be of assistance on this or any other issue. overstockcustomercare1 on Feb 8, 2013
Yes to this question. You can massage 2 spots at the same time.tab132 on Mar 30, 2013
Can you tell me if the EMS will actually contract the muscles (as opposed to just stimulate them)? I need a unit that will do the muscle contraction for strength and re-building, as well as TENS for pain control. (Is the EMS the same as NMES units?)45flathead on Nov 19, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
I'm sorry for the delay in answering your question. I finally received the following answer: Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) are two names for the same thing. Devices that have this functionality do contract the muscle and are often used for the purposes of strength training and muscle re-building. overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 29, 2012
What are the dimenstions for the actual unit, not in the case?
The description suggests that the product is 2 inches high x 9 inches wide x 8 inches long. Looking at the photo, it does not look like the width is only 1 inch shorter than the height, so I wonder if these are the dimensions for the product in its case. I would like to see if it will fit in my pocket. Thank you. on Oct 9, 2012Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
That is the measurement for the case. The actual product is 1 x 2 1/2 x 5. It looks quite small and I think it will fit in most pockets.overstockcustomercare1 on Oct 11, 2012
It's 4 x 2.5 and 1 inch deep. Fits into the pocket very easily, there is a clip on the back as well.tab132 on Mar 30, 2013
From looking at the specs, we would say they are quite similar. This unit has a little more adjustability and range, and also has the EMS modes which we think makes it a slightly better machine.overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 13, 2012

This item takes a 9-volt battery and does not come with a rechargeable battery. As for which is "the best" that is a personal decision. You may find reading the reviews of the various units we have available helpful.overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 18, 2012
