Customer Reviews
I have only owned 2 flatirons thus far. The two flatirons owned are this one and a FHI flatiron. The FHI didn't have a temp control and so at 450 degrees it literally fried my hair. After using the FHI my hair was so badly burned that I had to get it cut off. I have grown my hair out in the 3 yrs since that and have been relaxing my hair, and rarely use heat on my hair. But even w/ all these precautions my hair has begun to thin and break in spots, so needless to say I have had 2nd thoughts about continuing w/ chemical treatments. So I began to research which of the 2 is more damaging: chemical relaxers vs. flatirons. It turns out that the relaxers are. Then I began spending countless hours researching all the top flatirons to see which would be least damaging and yet get my fine, African-American hair straight. I narrowed my choices to Maxiglide, Ozon, and the Titantium Croc. After many reported hair breakage w/ the Maxiglide, I decided against it. The Ozon and Croc are very similar. Both are titanium and ceramic. Both also have an infrared feature and temp controls. The only difference between the two was the price. I should mention also that I read more glowing reviews from different sources on the Croc which weighed in its favor. At the price offered on Overstock you couldn't find a better deal. After using it, it immediately make my hair soft, shiny, and very straight. I did use some protective gloss before flatironing. I go to the gym a lot and normally the sweat causes my hair to frizz, well w/ the Croc it has been week (or nearly) and there has been no frizzing. My hair remains as straight as it was immediately after flatironing. The infrared feature seems to be a good thing for the hair.
