I have taken Melatonin for years and years now. As a life long insomniac, my pharmacist recommended this to me. He said, "The secret is to take it every single night. You have to get the level elevated in your blood, and then KEEP it there, Don't skip nights even if you already feel sleepy." And, from my experience, he is absolutely correct. I used to go days without sleep, nothing helped, not even Rx sleep meds. Melotonin taken 20 30 minutes before I close my eyes makes a world of difference. I wake to use the bathroom, but I can fall right back asleep., no problem. It isn't habit forming, no big morning hangover, it's inexpensive, and it occurs naturally in your body anyway. The level decreases with age, easy enough to get it back up there so we too can sleep like a baby. Highy recommended.
