  • Much Bigger Than Imagined

    You cannot typically find this size of curling iron in your local store, as they come no larger than 1.5". So the barrel size is larger than you anticipate when you compare it to your 1.5" diameter barrel. I have shoulder length hair which I wanted to give some body so this has worked very well...adding oomph without curl. I suspect that anything much shorter would not work well as the barrel is simply so large. And for long hair, this would likely give you nice soft waves. There is no automatic switch off and the design is rather analog...a twisting dial to set the temperature, a toggle switch to turn it on/off. The handle is press down to open and there is a swivel base for the cord to reduce twisting. The gold barrel has held it's color well and hair slides easily between the blade and barrel. Overall, it works very well and I fits my purpose. I'm very happy with the product.

  • If you want curled ends your fine, not curled hair

    It doesn't curl my hair hardly at all. I have really long hair and the smaller irons were way too much work so I opted for a much larger barrel. The end result was curled ends not curled hair. I don't recommend a barrel this large.

    Hot Tools is the best brand for curling irons I have found. This is my 3rd one, and they are very dependable. Very high quality product. I checked Amazon before I purchased this one from Overstock. Overstock was several dollars cheaper than Amazon and shipping was very fast.
