Not good for ethnic hair
from Columbus, OH,  Dec 1, 2007

Rating selection not working well for me..... 1/2 star...I'd heard good things about this very expensive flatiron so I made the plunge. I am hispanic/ black and have very wavy hair, this effects of this iron are deceiving, my hair didn't stay straight, it got frizzy and damaged after using it only three times over a month. I'm not a hair professional but I don't recommend it for ethnic hair. my rating is 1/2 star!!

the best wet dry ever
from ainsworth ne,  May 23, 2007

this is the best wet dry ever. It says that you have to have your hair 90% dry but i used it when my hair was half dry and it did a fantastic job. All my friends want to use it now.

Rubbish!
from New York, NY,  Oct 10, 2008

I was excited when my CHI Wet 2 Dry Straighteners arrived in the mail but was immediately disappointed when I opened the box. It was broken! I believe it was poorly constructed. The arms were wobbly and the plates did not rest flush against each other. How do you straighten your hair if the plates don't even touch? Overstock was great! I called them up and they sent me a new one straight away. I didn't even have to wait until they receive the broken straighteners. But, when I received the replacement I again was disappointed. These straighteners are rubbish! The construction was a little better but they are definitely not worth the money. Even on the highest temperature my hair was frizzy. And it left my hard feeling hard and stiff. I've heard that CHI's are great straighteners, but I can confirm that this particular model is not worth more than $15!Keep in mind that I am a black woman with a relaxer so my hair is already straight but use the flat iron to achieve a sleek, smooth, just-from-the-salon finish. These unfortunately do not fit the bill. My $30 Revlon flat iron is far superior in both construction and final result.

Be carefull
 from Illinois,  Jun 29, 2008

I am a hairdresser. I wanted to warn people, that wet to dry does not mean totally wet. You must have your hair 80% dry to use this iron. Chi is a great product. I use their whole line in my salon, from color to tools. Anything putting out heat will damage your hair, especially if you're using it improperly. Also, use a little product on your hair while it's wet. Chi makes a great product to use when wet and dry.

A must have!
 May 21, 2007

My stylist introduced me to this product at the salon and I was in love. It's a must have for those who like to straighten curly hair. It produces the smoothest and straightest results I've ever had. Worth every penny! You'll never touch the hair dryer again...

Not up to Chi standards
from in the south,  Feb 6, 2008

I have the chi turbo after my hair stylist used it on my hair, which I bought from here (excellant service and product by the way). I only used this at my last hair cut, I was SO disappointed!!! Chi has great products and they are the top of the line, but this particular straightner did not straighten as well, IT PULLED MY HAIR, I was not able to grasp the barrels on the outside because it was way too hot, my hair did not look as healthy and shiny as it usually does. From one use I could tell it damaged my hair, it seemed to leave it frizzy still, and it did not get some of my cowlicks out like the turbo does. I personally would NOT recommend this Chi I would suggest you try the turbo first!!! By far the best straightener I have ever used!!!!!!!!!!!

Chi wet to dry gets the job done
from Los Angeles, CA,  Jul 15, 2007

I've been looking to replace my nearly dead, but super awesome "Magic Ionic" wet to dry straightening iron. I read a lot of great reveiws about the Chi, so I went for it. I have curly, super thick hair. The Chi gets the job done, but my hair is starting to look more and more damaged with use. So, I went back to my Magic Ionic. For some reason, it doesn't cause as much damage to my hair. All is to say is that you can't believe everything you read, everyone has a different hair type. The Chi is great for some people, but it is just not great for me. Plus, the iron is super expensive... so that's another con.

straightener
 Dec 29, 2007

Just what my daughter asked for. It has replaced her old non ceramic straighteners, leaving her hair much softer. She loves it.
