    I like this mirror much more than the one it is replacing, which had an automatic on-off "touch" mechanism, which I was constantly running into by mistake and turning off while using. This mirror has more settings than it needs, such as "daylight" and "office", when essentially one will probably always use the brightest setting. The replacement of the automatic on-off touch mechanism with an actual on-off switch is a feature that is very welcome, or perhaps I am the only one who keeps running into their mirror, trying to get a little closer look while plucking pesky stray eyebrows?

    • Hi zipie, the oval is the mirror and the light is around that. The 8.5 inches is the diameter measured from the inside frame. The light at the center is 1 inch, but as you go up and down it is almost non-existent. I hope this helps, thanks for shopping with us.
