I received these at the hospital with my first child and remembered wishing I had some when I came home. This time I scoured the Internet & have always had great service from overstock. I didn't require any stitches this time around but they are still heaven sent for the soreness. Yes, you can make your own at home but you can't travel with them and there are so many other priorities just make the investment. If you don't use them all they are a great addition to any first aid kit:)

These compresses are fabulous. They are colder and stay longer than any other compresses I have used. I recently had surgery on my foot and neeeded to ice my foot several times throughout the day. I basically kept two in the freezer and rotated them. The cold packs molded to my foot and were comfortable to use, unlike using plastic bags filled with ice. I have given some away to family members and they think they are great also. You can't beat the price and Overstock got them to me quickly and inexpensively. I would definitely buy again, but probably won't need to for a long, long time, because they are made well and I have so many!!

My mother-in-law suffers from very very sensitive skin and spends much of her time trying to soothe her feet and legs. She had a few ancient cold packs that she used daily and thought she couldn't replace because her insurance wouldn't pay for it. I ordered a case of the exact Medline Hot/Cold Packs from Overstock for less than the price of 2 at her store. She is delighted and reluctantly threw her old packs away. Overstock and Medline made a big contribution to her quality of life and I would heartily recommend them both to anyone.

As an owner of Adult Homecare Facilites; we take first aide preparedness very seriously. We like the pliability of the bags and that they mold to the injury. Unlike a bag of ice that slips off the injury and drips as it melts. I recommend everyone keep them in their refrig-freezer. They are much better than a bag of peas!

Besides quick delivery, these medical-grade quality gel packs are a great value and great to have readily available for injuries and those migraines that sneek up on me from time to time. I even had enough to give to some friends with small children for those little 'boo-boos' that they get. I use these as a nurse, and recommend them to everyone especially with small children.

This was the best deal I could find for these cold packs that hospitals usually supply for the new moms to use to reduce swelling after giving birth. With just a pop and a shake you have instant cold in an absorbent pad about the size of a large menstrual pad. If you have some left over, just use them in place of a traditional ice pack, like for a sore neck or sprained ankle.

I have a lot of trouble with my shoulder when i do repetitive movements and these are great. They remain gel like even after freezing, and are awesome when warmed. However, when i warmed it as directed, it did get a little ragged looking, so you probably need to set aside some for heating only and some for cooling only.

Good size, flexible. The 5" x 10" size just fits inside a gallon plastic zip type bag. You can fit in two for larger areas like your back. The gel makes them flexible for use on different areas of the body, yet they get cold enough to use to keep food or medicine cold during transport. Good size cold pack for the wrist or head, too. I use them mainly as cold packs, but I gave two to a friend with back problems, she uses them hot or cold as needed and likes the flexibility of the gel rather than as a solid piece.

I really like the fact that I can place it on my ankle, while resting my foot upon a stool, and it doesn't slide off as fast as those with a sleek exterior. So, the rough exterior is a good thing. I just wish it stayed colder longer. I need to use twice as many as another Instant Ice Pack - that I cannot find anymore. So, I'm careful when using these. If I'm going to need to ice something for more than 15 minutes, and I'm home, I'll just go grab a bag of frozen corn! Still useful when 'on-the-go'. As I stated in the "Quality" section, I will probably look online for another brand when I need more. Does keep really cold for about 15 minutes.

I have a bad back, and use ice frequently to relieve pain. Riding in the car for more than a few minutes and some regular daily activities cause me pain. These packs are durable and I carry some with me in the car at all times. They numb quickly and it seem to me better than refrigerator ice packs. They last about 15-20 minutes, so they keep me within the 20-25 guidelines for ice therapy.
