A friend recommended Biosilk to me recently and I decided to give it a try. My hair is a few inches shy of my waist with dry ends prone to splitting so it requires some TLC.
So far Biosilk has proven to be a great addition to my hair care regimen. When I apply it while my hair is wet, it makes my hair easier to detangle and it turns out soft, sleek and shinier. I also use it on my hair between shampoos about once per day, which makes it easier to brush and detangle. I love the way it smells.
Some criticize that the serum has alcohol in it (it's the base for the fragrance) and thus causes hair to dry out. I have not found that to be the case so far. You do have to shake it up really well before use, however, as the alcohol will separate from the rest of the serum.
Additionally, like any other silicone-based hair serum it is important to use it sparingly. Less truly is more here - even with my longer hair I need no more than a quarter-sized amount when applying it just after washing, and no more than a dime-sized dollop when my hair is dry. Any more than this and it will weigh down the hair and make it greasy.
Biosilk is expensive but very much worth it, especially as using it sparingly means it will go a long way.
