  • This cello will do just fine.

A student recently received this cello, and I have to say I was surprised by the quality for this price. I mean, it's not one I would recommend for an advanced student, but for your average public school orchestra student it will do just fine. The instrument itself seems to be of good quality, and sounds pretty decent. The pegs, while of good materials, are not drilled well - the string holes are too small for the standard replacement string I use - had to enlarge the hole in one already. I have found this to be pretty common in "cheap" instruments, not sure why. The bow is of pretty poor quality - I have seen enough of these bows to know that it will likely warp or break soon. Already the hair tension isn't right - the stick looks overtight even when the hair is only barely tight enough to use. When that happens I will recommend replacing instead of repairing. Last thing: don't follow the sizing listed here: "youth, teen, adult" is NOT an accurate assessment of the correct size...

  • Rather disappointed

I understood from reading the reviews I'd have to buy a new bow and rosin. I was not anticipating the bow to come with already broken strings as though someone had already used it. My largest issues stems from the fact that it came quite loose and in trying to tighten it, the strings became dislodged and I'll need to take it to a music store. Fortunately, it turns out that this is the wrong size for my daughter so we are going to put off the added expense of fixing the violin so it actually plays.

This is a wonderful violin for someone who is just starting to play.

  • good beginner violin

My 5yr old asked Santa for a violin. I wanted something that he could actually take lessons with, but didn't want to spend a lot of money. From what I can tell this is a good violin for a 5 yr old. If he continues to show interest with lessons, we will go up in quality, but I am happy with this violin for now.

  • This is a great buy!

I love my Viola. The tone is very nice. It makes a great student Viola. It holds its tuning well. The case is very protective and plush. It has a good quality bow. The strings that came with it were not the best, but those are easily replaced. I would highly recommend this viola to someone looking for a student viola.
