PetGear Generation II 42-inch Soft Crate

Good quality soft-sided crate. Stitching looks good, zippers work well, opens/collapses easily. Very light weight (compared to a wire crate) so it will be easy to transport. Our dog was raised in a wire crate from ages 2mths to 20mths, and now at almost 3 yrs old he adapted easily/quickly to this new crate. We made the intro fun with treats and us playing in it with him. It'll be his "doggie tent" when we spend the night in hotels or camping. He's done with his chewing stage so he has no desire to chew or dig at the sides/windows.

I purchased the 42 in soft crate for my 86 lb dog to take on road trips. Unlike most soft crates this one folds like an accordian so when its folded up its smaller than most crates (when folded its 28w x 28H). I also have a metal crate for every day use. The metal crate is 42L x 31H x 28w. Although this crate is advertised at these dimensions it is actually 41.5L x 28 H x 28W. Although the extra 3 inch height would have been nice, my dog fits nicely - he's about 26" tall at the shoulder. The moment I put it up, my dog ran right in. He really seems to like it. The one thing better than the metal crate is the bottom, the bottom is soft and the blanket is great. I think its much more comfortable than the plastic bottom of the regular crate that you can feel the metal bars through. I haven't taken it on a trip yet, but I think it will work great when visiting friends or in hotels. The only thing I wish it had was cloth flaps to cover the screens. I thought it came with screens and cloth flaps. The blanket, plastic mat, leash and extra pockets to carry toys are great. Crate looks really nice, much better than a metal crate. Reminder, your dog should be crate trained before using this, its not a metal crate.

Well first let me say that this is a great price for this product. Delivery was fast and you can't beat what you pay for shipping and tax! So, it was indeed a great deal. Now, the quality of this soft crate is pretty iffy. Seems really thin to hold a dog who fits the spec size. I had a previous soft crate made by DockDogs that was great. Very heavy duty and well designed. This one - well not as great. If it wasn't such a hassle I would send it back and buy the XL DockDog crate - which is smaller than this one but probably a better value. But hey, the O price and shipping was great!
