Jumbo King Crab Legs

Just opened the box; packed in dry ice. I grabbed a loose chunk; so be careful. I'm a King crab junkie and I have resorted to buying local at grocery stores. They sell the same size crab for 16 dollars a pound. This is not Jumbo and may not be classified as large either. So I paid allot more for crab out of the gate. 25 percent more to be exact. Even the most expensive which is Martins; would have been about the same or less expensive. I ordered a few to see if this was the real deal... the legs in a standard pack of three weighed 4, 4.4. 5.5 ounces; which was generous considering my plate could not zero and likely started at about a half ounce. Also factor the frozen ice; so I'll weight them again tonight after thaw and do a taste test. Bottom line... if you want jumbo crab... order direct from Alaska. Which is what I will do shortly; if they ever get back to me (twice the size). The internet and stores have led me to believe that there is a crab shortage right now. Not sure about that one, but perhaps it's the case with the rising middle class in world and inflation in the U.S. Hope this is helpful! Enjoy your crab while you can... this is one food that will be highly competitive. I'd buy Russian crab if I had a good line.

i was very happy that when i recieved the legs they were still in ice very good with Old Bay and some butter !!!!!!

I ordered as a gift for my father and I got the report that there was a lot of meat on the crab legs and it was very tasty. I would order again.
