The plant was "dead on arrival." Don't think you can get any more precise than that.

• Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Isn't dead a defect?

I ordered 3 Ivy Heart plants as gifts for my children in which all 3 had just moved into a new apt. It was a house warming gift, in which I sent a special msg with each one. The plant arrived at all places, but no card as gift, no info on care of plant. My children didn't know where it came from. Good thing I asked them if they recvd it. I called Overstock, but the lady said she didn't know anything about a gift card, since it was shipping from another place.
