These magnificent hand-painted leather and wood hidden treasure boxes are crafted by a small group of Tibetan artisans currently living outside of Beijing. Each box is constructed of wood and then completely covered with leather, both inside and out. The box appears to be a book when closed. The inside leather is meticulously hand-painted with various Chinese symbols and characters. The outside leather is dyed dark red, then hand-painted with birds and flowers.
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce slight variations in form and sizing. All measurements are approximate.

The Tibetan Hidden Treasure Box was a lovely purchase. Though the paint was darker than the site shows, this did not degrade from the quality of the piece. The design on the front and side of the box was quite lovely. One should be delicate with the spine of this box, however. Thanks!

Clever as a gift. The book is a bit more colorful online than it is inperson, so that was a slight disappointment. I bought 3 of them to give away and my husband thought we should keep one of them for ourselves, so I gave away 2. The response from one receiver was that it would be perfect for his home office and he had to think about what he wanted to hide inside. He sounded very pleased. It reminded me of the Shawshank Redemption.
