I have a confession to make: I am completely addicted to eye shadow. I have an entire makeup bag devoted to eye shadows, and only eye shadows. I can't walk past a cosmetics counter without stopping, staring, testing and (more often than I should) buying. It didn't help when I stumbled across this set of 88 eye shadows, because that more than doubled my collection in one go. Oh, but look at all the colors!
Why eye shadow? Well, for one, I'm a girly girl, and eye shadow is straight up pretty and sparkly. I covet Katy Perry's bubble gum-gilded lids. I swoon for Kim Kardashian's sexy smoky eyes. I have a need to spend late nights in front of my bathroom mirror trying to replicate these looks (which never quite happens, and so I buy brighter eye shadows and fancier brushes in hopes that new makeup will somehow trump my inferior application skills).
All the time I hear women saying that they love bold, dramatic eye shadow, but that they could never pull off the look themselves. I say, why can't you? Bold and bright are big this year, and if Adam Lambert can pull it off, so can you. While Adam Lambert's eye shadow choices aren't necessarily inspiring my late-night eyeshadow adventures, you've got to give the guy credit for his devotion to the eye makeup.
Luckily, with fall creeping upon us, it's the perfect time to start trying out heavier, richer cool-weather looks, too. The warm colors of this eye shadow quad are begging to be layered for a deliciously cocoa-tinted look. Smoothing on this glittery silver shadow for the evening is going to make those shorter autumn days more bearable. I mean, it's going to make me count down the minutes to sunset just so I can pull it out. Using it wet as a liner will really make my eyes pop on crisp autumn evenings. I'm obviously already starting to have visions of it.
So what are your favorite eye shadow colors and styles? Is there a celebrity whose makeup you just love, or do you have a brand-new eye shadow you're dying to try out? Have any eye shadow tricks I should know about? Tell me all about it! I'm always looking for new eye shadow ideas. Let's hear yours.
