  • Terrible.

I can't even get the kids at camp to eat this product. Freeze dried/dehydrated food is not known to be culinary delight but this borders the line of dog food. Doesn't even smell right.

The product arrived on time and intact. None of the contents have been sampled at this time, so I cannot rate it at this time.

  • Just the essentials

I had been looking for a good value in emergency food for a while, but most of the stuff I found seemed to just be different forms of rice in sauce. For me, I didn't feel the need to stock up on cheap carbs, it was protein I wanted to have on hand, as I really don't ever want to have to hunt. An added bonus with Wise was the fact that it's freeze-dried, instead of dehydrated. I'm told freeze-drying is the better process for long term storage, the food retains more nutrients and better flavor. Honestly, I haven't tried any of it yet, but I'm glad I have it. Even the bucket is of good quality, and could easily be re-used.

Hopefully I will never have to use the food as it is for emergencies and I would prefer not to have any.

  • Where is the food?

The "meals" are either 50 or 100 calories. Yikes. A chipmunk can't live on that. The size of a freeze dried portion is about the same as a single saltine. Add some water and it isn't going to turn into a full meal. I have not opend a package to try one yet, but the packaging does list the caloric content. Too bad you can't read it on the picture that they provide.

  • Excellent customer service from Overstock

I purchased two buckets of this food. One got lost in transit. Overstock worked with me to get my replacement product which arrived yesterday. UPS which was responsible for delivery was not responsive to my email requests to track the lost package, so Overstock replaced it. I am very satisfied with Overstock's customer service in getting a replacement for my purchase. They called to confirm when it was not found and responded to several of my emails on the status of the order. Thanks to Michelle G. at Overstock for great customer service.

  • Food for Unexpected Conditions

We have been purchasing freeze-dried foods for that "just in case" scenario that you hope will never happen in your life time. We were going to order this product and then it was gone in a flash. I went to other sites that I've used for getting really goods prices on items such as this, but to my dismay they were quite a bit more costly! Now I know why O.Co's went so quickly-they were a minimum of $10 less than the cheapest site that I could find that even had them in stock! I put my email address in at the site at Overstock so that when it came back into stock I would definitely buy some more. And when I got the email from O.Co I did just that! I haven't tried them yet but they sound very good and healthy too. They have very little fat or cholesterol to my pleasant surprise! You also get 20 servings of rice. You can't beat that at that price-not even at the Wise site. We are thinking that maybe 2 containers may not be enough-we are going to try them out and if they are as good as they sound then I think we'll be back on that site again. Thank you for having the best prices and fastest delivery on the web that I could find!

  • got food?

there seems to be alot of empty space in the container, god forbide i should open it to check, since that would decline the shelf life. still can't beat the deal with overstock verses buying from the manufacturer though

  • Product tastes good But servings are only 260 cal

There are 60 servings but a serving is only 260 calories. In a emergency situation you will need 1500 calories per day. So about 12 days worth of food for one person. Wise does a good job and I might buy more - was hoping a serving size had more calories. It does taste good and would be great to eat in an emergency

  • Why did you choose this product?

    • I needed to supplement my emergency food supply with meat products.

    • Seems like a good deal for the price.

    • In case of an emergency, it is important to have good source of protein, and this is the best product I've seen so far. I am also gluten intolerant, so a lot of the packaged emergency supplies are not edible for me; this is.

    • gotta have protein....stress levels will be off the chart!

  • What is the serving size? Ad states quantity of servings, which can be subjective not knowing the severing size itself, to compare value of this item. Please answer as I would like to know prior to ordering some. Thanks

    • Meats are 1/4 pouch and rice is 1 cup. This contains 7 different products.

    • Meats are 1/4 pouch... How much meat is that? In weight once hydrated? If your cooking and recipe calls for 1 lb of meat etc... Or each person gets a serving to eat- great but still have know relational idea of what you are getting in this product as to meat serving size .... Can anyone help to answer?

    • have not ordered this yet but i did get a sample of the wise food parmesan alfredo noodles that is offered in their regular food line-4 servings as they say -actually about a cup or a bit more per person after cooking-hope that gives u a rough idea-it did feed 3 adults and 1 child.

    • Thank you for your inquiry. The serving size range from 11-15 grams which is the equivalent to 1/4 of the pouch. Therefore each packet contains 4 servings. For a complete rundown of the nutrition facts here is a link : http://wisefoodstorage.com/60-serving-gourmet-freeze-dry-meat-supply.html

  • IS there monosodium glutemate (MSG) in this product?

  • Do you offer a comparable product that has smaller serving sizes? A great deal would be wasted on my wife and I if we had to open such large serving packages. I would think that the obvious advantages of smaller packages would make it a breeze to pass on the extra cost to create this level of packaging.

    • No, we presently do not offer a product with smaller serving packages on Overstock.com.

  • How many servings per package? 10?

    • Roasted Chicken (12 Servings) · Southwest Style Chicken (12 Servings) · Stroganoff Beef (8 Servings) · Cheesy Ground Beef (8 Servings) · Teriyaki Style Chicken (8 Servings) · Savory Roasted Ground Beef (12 Servings) · Long-Term Instant Rice (20 Servings)
