Not being obsessive compulsive but the family is heeding the suggestions of www.ready.gov. Being so rural, it means everything is organized in the backpacks and ready to grab in the case of an emergency.

This is one of those items you hope you never get to use, unless you are in to that sort of thing, say camping, for example. The real deal comes from the fact that you get two, really good back-packs that hold allot of stuff. Each back pack has close to 50 liters in volume. The Necessities II, package comes with about 25 liters of supplies, so you have plenty of room left over for other essentials. You get two water filtration units and two sturdy metal cups for drinking, one handy first-aid kit that might need a few more items to be complete, pocket tool and a hand cranking radio flashlight combo unit. You can keep the two packs ready to go in your RV, airplane or boat. My two packs are right now hanging by the front door. So to say if the stuff inside will keep you alive is, well, just not known yet. This is a simple kit - cheap bag with very little in it.

compact, good quality products(can't vouch for water or food cause haven't actaully eaten them).Only one thing, alittle heavy, but no worse than the back packs my kids use to carry home from school. Bought this for my girls who room in Manhatten. Never know when there might be a blackout or any bio threat, or maybe they just need some basic first aid. Buying each thing individually would be far costlier

Some of the items were not well made. In my opinion it looks like some good quality items were put in and then filler stuff was added. For example: the tarps, bag, trenching tool, water tablets and a few other items all appear to be of quality. But the flashlight, cook stove, first aid kit, lantern and a few other things I thought WOW this will need to be replaced.
