Enjoy hot water wherever you go with this portable water heater from Eccotemp. This outdoor heater runs on two, 'D' cell batteries, so you can take it with you when you go camping or anywhere else, allowing you to take a nice, warm shower....more
For camping and general outdoor cleaning this heater is great!! I mounted it to a 2-wheeled hand dolly with the propane cylinder at the bottom and the heater at the top, hooked up all hoses and put a quick connect on the cold water inlet. Now I have portable hot water and have more uses than I thought!!! This is a very high quality product.
Did the product fit true to size? ABSOLUTELY

My girlfriend recently moved into a "fixer upper" with only one bathroom that is not working properly yet. I always wanted to set up an outdoor shower anyway so this sped up the process. While studying options like solar heat etc and researching tankless hot water heaters I found info on this unit. I love it! Less than 1/2 hour after unboxing it I had set up a temporary outside shower and installed the unit in it. (Set up of the unit itself took less than 5 min to install 2 D-Cell batteries (not provided) and hook up 5 gallon propane BBQ tank and garden hose to it... Less than 2 seconds after turning it on you have hot water. I was very pleased with how well the igniter works. I was concerned that the water might not get hot enough but was pleasantly surprised to see people having to increase water flow and/or turn down the burner setting from max settings... The water flow is not quite as strong as I would like... (Think of it as a motor home type water flow instead of "normal" shower water flow) I will probably get the L10 model for a more permanent outdoor installation so people can have a stronger water flow AND because I want to install two shower heads next to each other AND provide hot water for an outdoor kitchen while we're at it... WONDERFUL to be able to take a hot shower in the great outdoors... (Thinking of taking it camping with us when/where showers are not readily available.)
Absolutely love this -- just what we needed for our camp. Easy to use, water heats in seconds. Just can't say enough good things about this water heater. We are telling everyone about this product. Price, shipping, assembly, instructions -- everything was perfect.
Was truly amazed at how well this worked. It met and exceeded my expectations. I bought this to wash my horses and could set the temperature exactly as needed. The water flow is great, and heats up is seconds. Also like the way it preserves on the propane to cut off when the water is not flowing, and sure that helps with safety and preservation of the elements of the heater. Hook up was easy, and we had it working in minutes. Not to mention Overstock.com offered the best price and shipping. Should have done this long time ago. I don't camp, but can see how this would work great for those who do.
Almost burned myself first time I used this shower. I didn't think it could possibly work that well, so I just cranked it up to the highest setting. Surprise, it produced almost instant very hot water. The shower is made of sheet metal and internal wiring is open to the elements. Time will tell how well it stands up to the rain. There is nothing in the instructions that suggests that it should be stored inside when not in use, so I'm inclined to leave it in place until freezing weather arrives.
This is perfect for our cabin. In fact we have been using this exact model for over 5 years but this year we had an unexpected freeze after a late spring opening. We use this along with an RV pump connected to a 55 gallon drum in our shower and Great pressure and quick to heat. Only problem was the shower head has to be replaced due to the on and off switch every few years.
I can't even rate it right now because how do you rate a brand new water heater that leaks?
What do you do with it as well? I mean I really do need this for a temporary shower while our bathroom is remodeled - it is a complete mess!
Very, very disappointed.
My husband built a shower behind his "mancave" which is out in the "shed" he hooked this heater to the hose, and it works amazingly. in the summer he would rather shower out there than in the house! Works great!
How accurate was the sizing? exact

If I need only .5 to 1 gallon flow per minute would this damage the heater running at this rate for possibly up to 1 hour at a time?netcasting on Jan 5, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello netcasting, starting at a .5 gallons per minute (GPM) flow rate and going up to 1.4 GPM. After 20 minutes, the water heater shuts off automatically. I hope this answers your question. Have a great day! overstockcustomercare1 on Jan 11, 2014
I have a well with varying pressure and the heater acts squirrely. I had the same one for 4 years but it froze outdoors during a deep freeze in FL because I left the water in. I found in use it shuts itself on and off and I have to keep adjusting it during showering, but there is nothing like an outdoor shower 8 months out of the year and I can deal with it. I love this product.ooohlaa on Jan 17, 2014

probably a stupid question but I get my water from streams and what have you how do I put water into the heater in this manner? Does it have pump to suck up water from a bucket? Do I put in water manually?viper606 on Oct 20, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Thank you for contacting us viper606. We apologize for the delay on answering your question. We will post it soon as possible.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.overstockcustomercare1 on Nov 1, 2013
Thank you for contacting us viper606. If you are getting water from a stream you will need a pressurized pump on the line. Without a pump, the flow/psi will be too little to ignite the unit. We recommend the Flojet 2.9 GPM 50 PSI pump, which can be found on the manufacture web site. Any pump that falls within these specs will work as well.
