You get 6 different fruits, packaged in a reclosable foil pouch (severeal servings per pouch). Since this is freeze dried fruit, there is no added sugar or anything else for that matter and you taste only the great fruit flavor. The fruit is nice and crunchy right out of the pack and very tasty. If you leave the fruit exposed to the air for several minutes, it will become soft, limp and chewy. I had freeze dried fruit before but this is the best one yet! Banana is one flavor I never had before freeze dried, but it is really good, very intense banana flavor. What I like most about the freeze dried fruit is that there is no added sugar, it's only the fruit and that's it. The only Thing I disliked is that there was Strawberry "dust" on every pouch and the inside of the bucket. I don't know how it got there as all the pouches were intakt. Bottomline: Amazing taste, no added sugar or anything and a nice crunchy texture. This one is a keeper.Read More

I've spent countless hours poring over countless websites offering long-term food items. We live in area that frequently loses electric for days on end, so it makes sense to have a few weeks supply of good variety of foods. Everyplace else has some fruit-y items which cost more, plus shipping. With my Club O membership I don't worry about shipping. We also like camping (also no electric) and will sample these in a few weeks from now. However everything we've had from Auguson Farms has been wonderful so I fully expect these fruits to be up to their usual high standards. One thing to keep in mind if you plan to have long-term storage of food (and FEMA says everyone should!) is that you really ought to eat one or more meals per week from your stored foods; this way you will learn what you like, how to fix them, and also will rotate and prompt you to re-order what you liked and perhaps you'll also learn--hey, we really need to have some hot sauce with this (and then you'll come up with a plan to store, use & rotate some hot sauce). I hope that is a good example taken from our experiences. Everyone needs to have some stored items, no matter what your budget is, you can have a few extra cans of soup, peanut butter, etc, eat simpler and save a few bucks a week--before you know it you can order some longer-term items like this. If everyone in the neighborhood did this, just imagine the sufferings that could be ameliorated, and children that could avoid a tragic situation.Read More

How to Use a Blender as a Juicer
Making smoothies and milkshakes is easy with the right blender to mix everything together into a smooth consistency. A juicer, on the other hand, separates juice from fruit and vegetables by squeezing it. If you want the pure vegetable or fruit juice of a vegetable or fruit, you will probably need to buy a juicer, such as an orange juicer, rather than a kitchen blender. For thicker smoothies and drinks that still contain fruit pulp, however, blenders will work well. Read on for tips on using your food blender as a juicer for a variety of fruits.
FAQs about Food Storage
Whether you are setting up an emergency supply of food or simply stocking your pantry with kitchen storage items, it's important to know how long the different foods in your kitchen storage last as well as methods to increase their shelf life. Preparing foods as directed and storing them properly not only maintains the quality of the product; it also helps you avoid food poisoning. Read on for answers to your questions about food storage.
How to Build Your Emergency Food and Water Storage
Assembling your own emergency food and water storage is a simple precaution to take when preparing for unexpected events. FEMA suggests that you consider trying to store 14 days' worth of supplies, but most professionals think a three-day supply can suffice for an immediate response kit. With a little bit of foresight and periodic maintenance, you can easily build and maintain a basic disaster supplies kit. Here is some information about which foods to choose and how best to store them.
Create the Perfect Bug-Out Bag
Create the Perfect Bug-Out Bag | Overstock? Create the Perfect Bug-Out Bag Whether you call them bug-out bags, get-out-of-Dodge bags, or 72-hour kits, it's critical to have three days' worth of emergency supplies ready to go at a moment's notice not only for yourself, but for each member of your family, including children and pets. Along with the emergency essentials below, include personal items in your bug-out bag, such as cash, a credit card, local maps, and any important legal papers or documents. Back to Top Start with a Good Bag The two keys to the perfect bug-out bag are agility and portability. All supplies will need to fit securely in a bag that can be grabbed quickly and can easily travel with you. While any bag can work, a sturdy, large-capacity backpack is ideal. Shop All Backpacks Include a 72-hour Supply of Food and Water Three days' worth of clean water and nonperishable food should be the first bug-out bag items you buy. FEMA, Federal Emergency Management Agency, recommends having one gallon of water per person, per day. Likewise, you need enough nonperishable food to sustain each person for at least three days and a portable single-burner propane stove. For ultimate portability, look for lightweight food options, such as ready-to-eat freeze dried meals. Shop All Emergency Food & Water Add Protection from the Elements Being displaced by a disaster could mean that you will have to provide your own shelter and warmth. A simple change of clothes or lightweight raingear can help keep you warm and dry, but to be prepared for any scenario, bug-out bags should also include a lightweight tent, waterproof matches, an LED flashlight, sunscreen, a dust mask, and an emergency blanket. Including these additional items will assure that you can stay warm and safe in nearly any weather or location. Shop All Emergency Warmth & Shelter Don't Forget First Aid and Personal Hygiene No bug-out bag is complete without the proper first-aid and personal hygiene supplies. First-aid kits should include bandages, gloves, and an antibiotic ointment. Also include any needed prescription medication that you or a loved one can't go without and a backup pair of prescription eyeglasses. Personal hygiene items such as moist towelettes, a toothbrush, and hand sanitizer will help keep things fresh and sanitary while on-the-go. A plastic bag to contain trash is useful, too. Shop All Emergency First Aid & Medical Supplies Shop for Ready-Made Bug-Out Bags If your schedule doesn't allow you time to properly stock a bug-out bag with 72 hours' worth of supplies, then look for a ready-made kit. Be sure to check over the amount supplies in each pack. Most premade bug-out bags have enough supplies for one person. If you are making plans for additional family members, then buy each individual their own bug-out bag. Shop All 72-Hour Kits what shoppers are saying about emergency supplies at overstock?

Best Vitamins for Women
Even if you maintain a healthy diet and weight and exercise regularly, you still might not feel as though you are getting the nutrients you need to enjoy and keep up with your lifestyle. Women have specific needs when it comes to vitamins, and those needs can change and increase during adolescence, pregnancy and menopause. Let us help you choose the best vitamins and supplements for your lifestyle. B vitamins. B vitamins are water-soluble, which means they are flushed out daily, so they need to be replenished frequently. B vitamins are abundant in a variety of foods, including meat, potatoes and bananas, but many women, particularly vegetarians, may not find themselves consuming a variety of B vitamin-rich foods. Water-soluble vitamins are also compromised when foods are over-processed or stale. B vitamins affect your immune system, metabolism and cell growth, and they have a big impact on your energy levels. Pregnant women should consume extra B vitamins, particularly vitamin B9, which is also known as folic acid. Find your B vitamins together in a B-complex supplement or in a quality multivitamin. Vitamin C. Vitamin C is also water-soluble, so it is important to get plenty each day. Vitamin C is famous for promoting a healthy immune system. In addition, vitamin C is necessary for absorbing iron into the blood. Because women are more likely to develop iron-deficiency anemia, vitamin C is especially important. Vitamin C supplements are available in a range of formulations, and you can also get plenty from food sources. In addition to oranges, vitamin C is abundant in oysters, broccoli and a wide variety of fruits. Vitamin D. Vitamin D contributes to the overall health of your body's organs, but its main job is to make sure that the calcium you work so hard to consume gets absorbed properly. Women are more likely to develop bone density complications, so calcium and vitamin D are extremely important for women of all ages. You can get your vitamin D easily from the sun, but if your lifestyle doesn't allow for much sun exposure, you may want to consider adding a vitamin D supplement to your routine. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, which means it is stored in the body's fat and organs. There is some potential for toxicity when fat-soluble vitamins are over-supplemented. A daily intake of 200 to 400 IU per day is recommended for children and adults, and most vitamin D supplements will provide 400 IU per dose. More than 400 IU per day is not recommended. How to Make Charoset for Passover
Preparation for Passover involves a lot of time in the kitchen. The Jewish holiday not only involves a thorough cleaning of the kitchen; it also requires special foods for the Seder feast and separate cookware and dishes that you don't use during the rest of the year. The foods of the Seder plate are symbolic and include bitter herbs to help emphasize the bitterness of slavery and a mixture of fruit, nuts, and wine called "charoset" to recall the mortar used by Hebrew slaves in the Pharaoh's construction projects. Charoset (also spelled haroset) is one of the most popular foods served at Passover meals.
Best Vitamins for Fighting Fatigue
If you're feeling fatigued, your diet may be to blame. A lack of the proper vitamins can leave you tired, even after a good night's sleep. If you find yourself struggling to keep your energy up throughout the day, then you might consider adding vitamins and supplements to your daily routine. Adding vitamins and supplements to your diet can help you fight fatigue and feel more energized. Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an anti-stress vitamin. If your body can't deal with stress properly, you tire quickly. Vitamin A maintains the health of skin, plus the mucous membranes lining your digestive tract, bladder, mouth and lungs. Vitamin A also aids in the production of T cells, which improve your immune system. When your immune system is healthy, you feel more energized. In addition to supplements, you can get more vitamin A by consuming more eggs, spinach and mangos. Vitamin B. Vitamin B is best when taken in the form of a B complex, which includes folic acid, B6 and B12. Vitamin B helps regulate hormones and metabolism. Getting enough vitamin B helps your body efficiently process food and turn it into energy. Vitamin B can also improve your mood. Vitamin B is especially helpful in treating pre-menstrual fatigue and mood swings. B-complex vitamins and fish oil capsules can help your body get enough vitamin B. You can also find high levels of vitamin B in meat, lentils and potatoes. Beer is also a surprising source of vitamin B, though alcohol can limit the body's absorption of vitamins, so consume alcohol in moderation. Vitamin C. Vitamin C is crucial for maintaining your immune system and fighting viruses. Infections, even those unapparent to you, can cause fatigue as your body uses energy to fight them. Vitamin C is also helpful for iron absorption. Because iron deficiency, or "anemia", can result in fatigue, vitamin C is an important part of an energy-packed diet. Fruits and fruit juices are high in vitamin C, as are a wide range of vegetables. Vitamin C supplements are also a great way to get enough vitamin C. Vitamin E. Vitamin E is an important antioxidant, which means that it limits cell damage throughout the entire body. Vitamin E is also necessary for a healthy immune system. Supplements and multivitamins containing vitamin E can boost energy, and vitamin E can also be found in nuts, wheat germ, fruits and vegetables. NADH. NADH is a coenzyme. NADH aids in breaking down food and converting it into energy. If you're lacking NADH, fatigue is often a symptom. In addition to supplements, NADH can be found in fish, poultry and meat. Gingko Biloba. Gingko biloba is an extract from ginkgo leaves. Ginkgo biloba is often used to increase energy levels because it has been shown to increase blood flow in the body. Ginkgo biloba is also an antioxidant. You can find ginkgo biloba supplements or purchase teas and other drinks and specialty foods that are infused with the plant.
