The Alpinismo 45 backpack has a quick adjust back-panel adjustment system so people from short to tall can fit it. This is a great pack for zombie hunters and outdoor folks. Take a look at the display picture to see the gear in the Alpinizmo 45 Zombie Apocalypse Pak. The Alpinismo 45 is a no frills, I mean business, climbing pack. The 2 compression straps are designed to keep the loads stable in the pack. Internally, there is a hydration bladder envelope which ports over your right shoulder. There is also a zippered shelf separating the main compartment from the bottom compartment. Your tent is built into the bottom compartment. This pack is a great solution for the person who needs a high grade light weight pack to mount and access all the zombie gear you need. Where are you going to stay while you're on the run? A solid building would be nice but what if there isn't one around? Packing a huge tent is out of the question because you've got to run light. The built in 2 person sil-nylon "Swiftlite" tent keeps the Alpinizmo 45 Zombie Apocalypse Pak light and mobile. Weighing in at just 6 lbs this tent-backpack combination is a very comfortable TentPak system. The "Swiftlite" is an ultra light, fully enclosed, single wall tarp tent designed with No See Um mesh base vent panels, a seam sealed nylon bath tub floor, sil-nylon walls with a single front door. The body of the tent is held up by 4 corner stakes, 2 exterior guy lines and stakes plus 3 poles. 2 poles form an "A" frame doorway and a back pole that can be set inside or outside holds up the rear. Inside there are 2 gear pockets set to each side of the "A" style entry. The floor itself is a very strong, light weight, water repellant ripstop nylon that will withstand a lot of abuse. The "Swiftlite" is extremely quick to setup even while still connected to the back pack. It also comes down and stows really quick when you've got to get the move on. Sil-nylon is a waterproof fabric and must be vented according to the weather to prevent or minimize condensation on the inside of the tent. Venting is accomplished with the 2 side vents mentioned earlier, a back vent and by adjusting the front vent/door for proper air flow. While billed as a 2 person tent many ZAP-ers (Zombie Apocalypse Pak users) will use this tent, because of its light weight, as a single person shelter, keeping their gear inside with them rather than in the open with the critters. The "Swiftlite" is so compact that when stowed in its spot in the bottom compartment of the backpack you can still put your compressible sleeping bag in with it. We suggest, if you don't have such a bag, that you look at the Lattitude 20, Extreme Pak XL or the Alpine Pak sleeping bags found in High Peak USA's product listing here on Overstock.. Every Zombie Apocalypse Pak needs some basic gear. First and foremost in every zombie apocalypse or natural disaster your brain and ability to think clearly is of primary importance. Second is shelter. Your Zombie Apocalypse Pak, like every TentPak, has shelter built into it. In addition to your built in shelter, the clothing you wear and have in your pack, as well as a good lower temperature sleeping bag can be the difference between life and death, even before you run into zombies. The starter gear package is detailed on the description page. Keep in mind that a properly stocked Alpinismo 45 Zombie Apocalypse Pak can be used as your master 72 hour emergency kit and can easily be thrown in the back of the car so you can get out of town should something non-zombie happen and you need to leave home in a moments notice. It is also a great camping gear package that will certainly cause some conversation among your camping buddies.Read More

What to Pack for Africa's Highest Peak
Imagine that you are planning a trip that will take you from the equator to Antarctica in seven days. Now imagine that you have to limit the amount of gear you pack to 35 pounds or less. The task is getting more complicated. What kind of luggage would you choose and how would you pack for a trip that encompasses such extreme changes in climate and altitude? When Erica Davis, a paraplegic athlete, and Tara Butcher, a physically challenged athlete, climb Africa's highest peak, they will have to answer exactly those questions. The challenge: Mount Kilimanjaro rises from nearly sea level all the way up to 19,330 feet. The trail climbs from the hot bushland through rain forest, moorland, alpine desert and arctic glaciers up to the rocky Uhuru peak. A climb like Mt. Kili presents special challenges when it comes to luggage, clothing and gear. Being prepared for the weather and temperature extremes is a necessity, but it's also important not to pack too much. There is a 35-pound weight limit to each piece of luggage carried by a porter. Most climbers pack one 35-pound capacity bag to go up with a porter and one small daypack to carry up themselves. The daypack: Erica and Tara will have 7 days to summit Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro. As they pass from one ecological zone to the next, their needs will change and so will the contents of their daypacks. Each day Erica and Tara will repack their daypacks in anticipation of the specific challenges of the day's journey. In general, their daypacks will include things like water, snacks, dry clothing, waterproof gear and sunscreen. The importance of keeping clothing and gear dry cannot be overstated. When choosing a daypack, a small to medium backpack made of lightweight, moisture-resistant material that comes with a removable waterproof shell will be ideal. It's also helpful if the backpack has convenient access to a water bottle compartment or can accommodate a water bladder. Plenty of pockets, zipper compartments and hooks are also handy. What to pack: A sturdy but lightweight water-repellant duffel bag with a capacity of about 35 pounds is ideal for the trek to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The bag needs to have room for plenty of layers of breathable, moisture-wicking clothing and layers of fleece clothing, as well as a waterproof layer. To save space, it's a good idea to pack clothing that does double duty, such as pants that easily convert into shorts. Aside from clothing, the climb will also require accessories like sunglasses, hats and gloves, plus equipment like trekking poles and a headlamp, as well as toiletries like sunscreen, insect repellent and a first-aid kit. Support the Challenged Athletes Foundation: Overstock.com and the C.H.E.K Institute are co-sponsoring Erica and Tara's climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in order to raise awareness for athletes with physical challenges who wish to participate and compete in sports. Portions of the proceeds will benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). CAF raises funds to give physically challenged athletes the opportunity to stay active and competitive in the sports they love. To show your support for physically challenged athletes like Erica and Tara, donate now to the Challenged Athletes Foundation for the Fit 4 Kili Climb.
