E2 has some gotchas
from Seattle, WA,  Oct 18, 2006

The Find search feature has bugs in the firmware - it only shows the first screenful of search results and won't go to additional screenfuls of results. The SD card is limited to 1GB - 2GB won't work - which limits its use as an MP3 player. Palm's spec's don't mention that, but if you dig deep in their tech support web site you'll see. Their own solution to the awknowledged Find function bug is to buy 3rd party replacement software, but the two I tried were awkward, slower, and too complex for everyday use. It's a show-stopper if you rely upon it for business as I do. Also, the Find shows only the notes field of Contacts if that's where the found text is located - doesn't display the contact company, phone, etc, which sort of defeats the purpose. Also, FWIW, I bought what I thought was a new one elsewhere and it had a lot of issues although it looked new - couldn't keep time, wouldn't power up reliably, etc even with no 3rd party software and immediately after hard resets. Turns out, according to Palm, it was a factory refurbished unit, with no warrantee from them. So, I won't be buying a refurbished unit again. In general, I do like this unit after having owned a Zire 72, Zire 31, Zire 21, and m105. The picture viewer is not as good as the Zire 72 which would zoom in and was faster showing them, but that had a camera, too. Oh, also, the keylock feature is useless for the purpose of preventing accidental turn-on from the address, etc. buttons - required some extra power-on step when enabled or something impractical besides just limiting power-up to the power button - don't recall the detail now. It was akin to the keylock on my cell phone still allowing you to dial 911 accidentally by disabling all the other number buttons but 9 and 1, thereby insuring if you accidentally dial from being in your pocket, it WILL be 911 that you dial.

Palm Tungsten E2 PDA Open Box
from Chula Vista , California,  May 19, 2006

This is the first time that I bought anything from Overstock . I am very pleased with my order. It came in 3 business days from the time that I ordered it and was in excellent shape when it arrived. The only thing missing was the manual but it came with one on the CD that was in the box. It works just fine and is one of the best ones that I have seen in a while. The viewing is very bright. It Sync's with my PC just fine. No marks on the screen at all. It had a little scuff mark on the outside at the top but other than that it look's great. It also came with a cover. Overall I am very Satisfied. I'll recommend Overstock to anyone that want's a terriffic deal. Thank's

You got to get this
from Bowie, Md,  Nov 13, 2007

This E2 PDA is fantastic. I was sceptical atbout purchasing it, but now that I have it and use it on a daily basis, I love it. It does everything it promises to do with great ease. It is the perfect size to fit in your pocket or purse. And it is easy to use and the screen is easy to read at a glance without my glasses. Get One!

Died in less than a year
from Minneapolis, MN,  Sep 10, 2007

I had my E2 for 6 months when I started having problems. First the cable used to sync with the computer went bad so I couldn't sync anymore. Then a couple months later it died on me and I couldn't turn it back on. I had to reset it and luckily nothing was lost. That happened 3 more times over the next 1-2 months and now it has died completely. I have only had it for 7-8 months and it is completely dead. I looked on theire website in the forum and found this is a common problem. Avoid this model at all costs.

Great Product - Great Price!
Anonymous  from Cleveland, OH,  Jun 8, 2006

I just received my open-box Tungsten E-2 and it was in great condition. I had some trouble hot-synching at first, and would recommend that you do not use the software on the cd that comes with it, just go to the Palm website and download the latest and greatest there (mine worked like a charm after I did this - I have Windows XP on my computer). It doesn't come w/ a manual, but you can download one from Palm's website if you need one - this is my first pda and I think it is really easy to navigate. Also, would recommend buying the extra memory now if you want to put pictures or MP3's on it. Two of my friends bought them after they saw mine, and one got the open-box product - she said it was in perfect condition. Also - BUY THE WARRANTY! That's just the smart thing to do.

Caution is advised. I purchased a blemished PDA, which was in fantastic condition, but did not come with the software for Windows like the original CD-ROM and the Expansion Card. The potential for this was duly noted on Overstock's website, but they also advertised that the PDA was compatible with Windows Office and could be synch'd with Outlook. However, be advised that without the original CD-Rom, you cannot synch with Outlook programs, and the PDA cannot support Windows programs. This oversight will require the purchase of the original CD-ROM and the expansion card from Palm One, which will push the total purchase price beyond that of a new one from Palm One. This purchase may be a gamble, just be advised. On a seperate note, I have been happy with other Overstock purchases, which makes this all the more disappointing. Douglas

Just the features I need, none I don't
from Long Beach, CA,  Dec 7, 2007

I was replacing a previous unit ( another tungsten ) where the screen had stopped functioning. The unit I purchased from Overstock came with all the correct parts and software. The only difficulty was in the installation, A conflict developed between the older unit and the newer one ( my fault, I did not change the user ID and only one unit can have any specified user ID). This caused me to lose all my contact information and calendar information from both units. Palm provided support and walked me through resolution of the conflict for free despite my unit having been previously sold. Aside from the loss of the data the unit itself is functioning well and has all the features I use daily. It runs Epocrates easily and has a great screen to show off mini versions of my favorite pictures of my dogs and my hot rod. Great overall unit, with good features that meet my needs without me paying for a bunch of other features I neither need nor use!

Palm Tungsten E2
from Blackfoot, ID,  Nov 23, 2007

I had a prior Pam Tungsten E2 which was 1 yr old and water damaged. This was a replacement. The transition was really seamless and the new Palm came with added features. The shipping was rapid and the price affordable.

Palm E2 No Problems
from Panama City, FL,  Sep 24, 2007

This was my first purchase from Overstock. I did the research and determined that the Palm E2 would meet my needs. I was torn between "Open Box" and "Blemished". After reading some reviews, I decided on "Open Box". I have had no problems with device. My only complaint is that I wished that it had arrived faster, but I was the one who chose the shipping method. If you are looking for a simple PIM (not a phone or a camera), this is a good choice. I usually have to wear my reading glasses to operate these small devices, but I do not have to with the E2. This is a big plus for me.

palmOne Tungsten E2 PDA Handheld Open Box
from Camarillo, Ca.,  Sep 20, 2006

I really like this item, however, it is missing a couple of features that I really liked in my old Clie: there is no confirmation of additions or changes during hot-sync, and it does not show what % of battery power is remaining. Other than that, it is a very good product

E2 Superb!
 from Maine,  Aug 16, 2006

I received my E2 two weeks ago,but had company at the time and have only had it up and running for about a week now. I am a former owner of a Palm T5 which made me very frustrated and unhappy! (It finally died after NEVER working well) I ordered the E2 with trepidation, but was anxious to have a well-functioning pda. This one fits the bill! It is running flawlessly to date after installing software from cd and software from third parties. (This was the problem I had with my former Palm...it died after installing 3rd party software.) The screen is a bit smaller than the T5, but I can deal with that as long as it functions and it DOES! The product arrived in a generic brown box and contained the pda wrapped in bubblewrap, software cd and cables. No paper manual, but I was able to install one from the cd. There is also an online manual which I have not yet accessed. The pda itself looked like new...not a scratch anywhere. I'm very pleased! I purchased the 2 year extended warrantee since i had such problems with my T5. This brought the cost to nearly what I'd have paid for a new one, but I'm still happy. A new one would have had a 90 day warrantee which isn't nearly long enough!! This is one happy camper! Thank you. Overstock!

Palm itself is like new. Without any manual there are a few features I'm fuzzy about, but I'm sure I can find it online.

Purchased this PDA in May 05- almost exactly 90 days after - stopped working. No previous problems - very satisfied. I did not purchase protection coverage - and now there is nothing that Overstock will do. Three months later - have to purchase another PDA, $199. Keep that in mind when buying re-conditioned product - buy the coverage.

misrepresentation! the palm came in a plastic wrap entitled "reconditioned".Open box has a quite different connotation. The on off switch did not work consistently,"Error" signs came on and were difficult to erase. It was obvious that there was an internal malfunction involved. This was my first experience with an open box type of order and needless to say the $50 savings gave me$100 of aggravation....

Great purchase
 May 21, 2008

This is the first Palm I have owned. The Tungsten E2 is excellent and easy to use. I was hesitant to buy the open box/refurbished one but it works without any problems or defects. I am starting to download additional programs for it and so far it has been an easy process!
