I purchased and use this modem for one purpose only: to send faxes from my computer using 'Windows Fax and Scan'. Since I intended to use the modem for that purpose only and only infrequently (average four times each week) I opted for the least expensive product that met my minimum required specifications. The product I received was super simple to install and has worked flawlessly ever since. It has exceeded my expectations in every respect. If only those technology products that I have purchased costing hundreds of dollars more worked as well!
