I bought these glasses to use with a Panasonic TC-P50ST30 after being told by the manufacturer that their glasses would only work up to a distance of 10.5 feet. I'd seen other people review these glasses and state that they function at a greater distance than the Panasonic glasses. They do. I tried them at 15 feet and further with no problems. I had no problem setting the glasses to use with the TV but I do have two complaints about the glasses. One of course is the lack of obvious display as to whether the glasses are on or off. I'll have to be careful about that. Aside from that issue they are not the most comfortable to wear. I tried all 3 nosepieces and did not find any that were really comfortable. I'll either live with it or find a way to improve the comfort. Aside from these two things the glasses are great and dealing with Overstock is something I will probably be doing often. It sure beats dealing with Amazon!

I Purchased three pairs of these for use with my 2011 Panasonic TC-PST30 Plasma 3D HDTV. Since no Panasonic 3D glasses came with the set, I have nothing to compare the XpanD X103 Universal 3D Glasses with and, thus, cannot comment on how they perform relative to Panasonic's glasses. While I have not used them extensively, they seem to perform well and do a fine job with 3D programming and simulated 3D on this set with no apparent sync problems. I wear normal (large) eyeglasses and the X103's accommodate them quite well. The interchangeable nose pieces let me find one that worked comfortably for me with the X103's sitting in front of my regular glasses. The temples wrap comfortably around the back of one's head and keep the glasses in place. There are no different sizes available in the X103 glasses, so if you have to fit a very large or very small head, there may be issues with too much or too little pressure from the temples. For anyone who has used rechargeable products with embedded, non-user-replaceable batteries, you know that, over time, the rechargeable battery will lose operating capacity, and at some point fail to hold a charge at all. This phenomenon is exacerbated if the device is only used sporadically and with long idle periods between uses. Because this is a product that, at least at this time, fits that usage profile precisely, I specifically looked for compatible, active-shutter, 3D glasses that used replaceable batteries. I see no point in paying twice as much for glasses that will eventually need to be replaced during the life of the 3D television. The XpanD X103's use a single, easily replaceable, readily available and inexpensive CR2032 button battery. They even come with two replacement batteries in addition to the one already in the glasses. The XpanD X103 Universal 3D Glasses are not a perfect product, however, and areas for improvement exist. The most glaring omission is the failure to incorporate an automatic, power shut-off for the glasses after a period of non-use or absence of synchronization signal. That means you MUST remember to press the button on the glasses to turn them off. This is something that is VERY easily neglected, and is exacerbated by the lack of any external indicator that the glasses are powered on. The internal LED indicator is only used to signal power-on/off changes and select TV brand compatibility modes through momentary flashes. Although the glasses remember the TV brand setting, should you ever need to change or reset them, don't lose the instructions, as the process which involves holding the button down for certain lengths of time in order to enter and set modes is not really intuitive. Samsung TV buyers need to take care here since with their more recent models they no longer use the infrared signaling system that these glasses respond to. Certain other Manufacturers' TVs may require a separate IR emitter module. The X103's also do not work with nVidia 3DVision-compatible computer monitors. Finally, while a microfiber fabric, drawstring storage pouch is provided with the X103's, a hard storage case would have been preferable. Overall, despite their few shortcomings, the XpanD X103 Universal 3D Glasses are a very good product and a terrific value compared to most TV manufacturers' IR active-shutter glasses. Recommended.

I bought these because they were rated the most reliable. I also bought some of the Blick universal glasses that were supposed to be even better than the Xpands...not. The Xpand x103's have a great field of view, have 3 nose pieces to choose for comfort. They are light enough to wear for multiple movies. The arms wrap your head without adding too much pressure on your nose (even on my 6year old boy). 6 different 3D modes to choose from for best 3d depth. I've watched 8 movies so far & haven't had to replace the batteries. All around great glasses. I would only wish that the lenses were less dense to look through but are no worse than looking through light sun glasses. & of course they all could be lighter. I wish I had bought 6 instead of 4 at the price I got them at.

With the huge difference in price and no discernible difference in quality between these glasses and the Panasonic brand glasses for my TV, I cannot imagine why anyone would buy the Panasonics. The XpanD X 103's can be switched for other manufacturer's 3D tv's, and I would assume that these glasses work equally as well with those televisions.

This is the Universal model (X103) which supposedly works with all or most makes of Projection. Simply by pressing a small button in sequence, the user reaches the corresponding compatible setting for the relevant 3D TV or projector. These are the same 3D glasses supplied with JVC projectors, except that the JVC ones don't have the button and are specific to that make, working only via IR.Otherwise you could not tell them apart. Furthermore, the Xband version is about one third the cost of the branded JVC equivalent, making them a good economic alternative with arguably the same performance. It would be purely subjective if the user found any difference in say brightness, between the `JVC version and the X103's. Small frame spectacles fit easily behind the 103 pair and the combination feels quite comfortable. There is now a re-designed version called X104,which is supposedly a more advanced set of Universals in that they use different types of communication with the TV/PJ. The 103's work purely on Infra-Red transmissions, whereas the 104's use IR, RF, Blue Tooth, depending on the branded manufacturers technical preference.Having said that, Xband appears to have released the 104 model before it is fully sorted out, since the user needs to purchase modules for the different types of transmissions. These modules are not part of the cost of the glasses, out of the box, but the user has to pay out for the modules,as extra items. As I understand it, not all the modules are available yet,so the 104 is actually not as "Universal" as the 103's. Overall, I would say that the 103 represents better value for money and unless the big manufacturers decide on a common communication method, other than IR, then these will serve purpose for a long time to come.If they should decide on say RF or Bluetooth, and ignore IR,then these gogs will become redundant for future use. I have taken my chance on this issue and I believe it to be the correct decision.
