refurb issues

stickx911 from ga, Nov 25, 2009

I've seen this in action before and like the unit it self, but my refurb unit's remote was not functional and I have to return for replacement. It may be worth the extra few dollars to get a new one.

Best Media Player Out There

hpoo from Fremont, CA, Oct 7, 2009

The WD TV media player is the best I've tried. I've only tested Divx movies and the Movie Player works great. I am currently using the composite cables since my TV only has one HD connection which is being used but there is a huge difference when using the HD cable. The composite is good too but you can see the difference between them. What I love about the WD TV media player is after you've installed the firmware update, if you include a jpeg photo of the DVD case and name it with the same name as the movie (i.e. spiderman.jpg and spiderman.avi), the icons will show the DVD case as a thumbnail. Coolest thing I have ever seen.

good product

fourtywatt from ks, Sep 16, 2009

This little machine is great. It plays most movie, music, and photo formats. I like being able to play what I want without searching for and switching discs, whether it's a movie or music. You can also take a video you have on a flash drive or whatever and use the second usb slot to plug it in. It's easy to move from tv to tv, and the HD files look great on my big screen. It can run pretty hot, so I always unplug it when I'm not using it for a while, and it doesn't allow you to RW or FF .m4v movies (which most of my movies are). There are a few other miner things that could be improved though software updates if they choose to address them, but overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

Good, but very used

gumby024 from Miami Beach, FL, Sep 10, 2009

It works great, but is very used. All of the features work wonderfully; good product from HP. However, since it was refurbished, I was expecting to receive it with some minimal signs of wear. Instead, the entire shiny surface is full of scuff marks. It looks as if it was floor model that had been handled by a 1000 different people. The remote was brand new. For the price with an additional promotional discount, I would still recommend.

The media player is great. The only downside was no instructions.
