I needed a HD to backup documents, pics and music after computer crashed twice. I needed something portable and easy to use. This is it. Installation is a breeze, it's lightweight, and so far has been reliable. A really amazing deal for the money. It also works with a macbook perfectly. Great deal.

This compact portable hard drive is great for backing up your files or moving files from PC to PC at 1/2 the original price. File transfers were done very quickly. The pre-loaded software works well. The 6" inch USB cable is adequate and stores well in the available HD pouch. The rubber boot over the connecter port is a great idea to keep dust and dirt out.

The ease of use, this is the question. It does have a manual on the hard drive, but to read it is not easy and to print it, is not cost effective. Once you figure out how to use this hard drive it is something you can't live without.

Its easy to install,easy to check out how to use and its perfect in every condition! I agree That WD-is the best! Even in europe people buy only this one, because they think that its perfect! I add One more,that the price is unbelievable and amazing! This was easy enough to use... "Plug & play" worked. The product came with ZERO instructions though, so I was a little apprehensive when I first got it. Opened the box and there was nothing in there except the product itself. Guess I was lucky that it worked, but I don't know what you would do if the plug & play didn't come up when you plug it in. There are digital help files and instructions on the disk drive once you access it. I deleted all the foreign language ones to save space. Dollars per megabyte, it was a good price. I guess only time will tell if it keeps all my digital documents & pictures safe long-term, which is why I bought it.

This is my second WD external hard drive. It is extremely portable and very easy to use. Runs off a USB connection and requires no other power supply like my larger 320 GB drive. It fits in my pocket. The only downside is the 5400 rpm speed - it's noticeably slower that my other 7200 rpm external. However, for the portability, form factor, and ease of use, a cut in speed is an acceptable sacrifice.
